Procat saloon?

Does anyone remember a schumacher kit based on the procat which came with a saloon body?

Just picked one up and want to convert it back to a procat to use in some retro races this summer and need to check which bits I will need... :)

You mean the Schumacher RS 4x4.

I've got one http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=17109&id=297 (no surprise there!), all you need to convert it to a Procat is a body, undertray and tyres. Remove the saloon body mounts and the shock limiters from inside the shocks and you are done.

Any idea's on the wing mounting? Doesnt seem to be any one mine, just a flat plate for the saloon body mounts.

For a wing mount your options are

1) use some long bolts and spacers to screw the wing to the mounting point for the saloon rear body mount.

2) get hold of the old style wire wing mount and mounting hardware, as you can see here (http://www.tamiyaclub.com/tc_userimages/297/img297_1121200371631_1.jpg). Doesn't matter which car it's off, as long as it can mount to the shock mount.

3) buy another Procat or a Cougar1. Buying a worn out complete car will be cheaper and easier than trying to find someone selling the original wing mounts.

Yeah, like terry said, I’m not very good at describing this stuff, but, you can get either the plastic plate which bolts to the rear suspension mount, where the car bodyshell mount is currently (I think), then get the plastic wing mounts. I found this method quite fragile as it used rubber bands to attach the wing. Or, use the much better wire wing mount bolted directly to the suspension mount. Both normally turn up on ebay now and then.

Doesn't the current Cat SX use the same plastic and O-Ring wing mounts as the old Procat? I know my Cat'98 uses the same mounts as my Topcat used to.

It doesn't. The Topcat wing button is held in place by a pin through it, the later ones are screwed together.

The Procat, Topcat and Cougar1 wing mounts were mounted on the flat plate moulded into the plastic shock mount. The wing mount moulding is designed to fit on a horizontal plate. Part number is U712L - if you ever find any.

From the Cougar2 and Bosscat onwards the shock mount was a carbon or fibreglass plate, so the wing mount moulding is now designed to fit on a vertical plate.

One final question, does anyone know what the prefix stands for on schumacher part numbers?

I need a drive belt for the procat, but the T152 partnumber doesnt exist, only the Q152 bosscat part is available, any idea's what the difference is?

Failing that, does anyone have one with the dimensions still on the belt?

The T part numbers are parts in the kit, the replacemnet parts are U parts, so the spare part equivalent of the T152 is the U152O belt. The Bosscat belt is U152Q so there's a good chance it's the same as the Procat one.

The Procat belt specification is 80/324/4 MXL belt, so that will be a 324 tooth, 4mm wide belt.

I hope you can make out the wing mount I have made for my Procat racer. While the original mounts are ok for shelf cars you'll soon find that if the car flips onto its lid it doesn't take much to best the mounts or the rubber bands.
