Firstly Hello one and all
Love the site and all the informative stuff going on.

After a long break from any kind of R/Cing I have decided to try and combine one of my other pastimes (photography) with R/C's. Im hoping to visit Remote World in Slough this coming Sunday with the hope of grabbing some nice shots of the day.
I had a reasonable first year in 2009 shooting a few real motorsport events and am looking forward to having a go at R/C's.
Would anyone care to share any racing shots, of any kind/scale of racing or share settings, shutter speeds/apertures/ISO etc that they found they were happy with. I know its all dependent on the day but the inspiration would also be appreciated from any pics.

Many thanks

hello mate

there are quite a few pics from Slough over in the gallery section of the Neo Buggy website. some from last August here - http://gallery.neobuggy.net/2009-Races/Pro-Line-Slough

also look up at the top of this page & click the PHOTOS text
that will take you to a big gallery index page for meetings covered by Jimmy (oOple owner & Boss)

as for settings i'm not too sure as i'm very new to DSLR's myself but i'd guess a wide aperture & quite a fast shutter as the cars aint slow ;)

if you have any cool pics you've taken ypurself post them up in the cool pic thread. always nice to see some decent pics :)

Read that and go from there. Once you've got some nice shots try all the different settings you can and see whay you personally like.

Get down low at car level if you can - if you are not covered in crap by the end of the day you've not been doing it right.

Thanks for the link Stu,
Yup, spent 3 days last year at Goodwood. Was a fantastic experience. Even got into a tussle with a TV camera man trying to hustle in on me taking a pic of Sebastien Loeb

I find if the cars are comming towards you then the AF is most likely to not be able to keep up so your better picking a spot and taking the picture just before the car comes into focus (Gotta go just before otherwise the picture will be of the car as it's out of focus due to the delays in your body from thinking about pressing the shutter to actually pressing it and then the camera responding).

Shutter speed I try to keep between 100-250th to keep thinks blurred so it looks like the cars are more than just parked there although depending on the shot you can go for higher shutter speeds. TC's for example dont usually run spoked wheels so unless you go for a very low shutter speed to get noticable blur on the tarmac/scenery they always look parked. Off-road can use higher shutter speeds as you can then catch things like dirt flying and the car frozen in mid air .

Here's a random selection from me :)

Well, after a very cold and dull morning at Slough today I managed to bag a few decent shots of which im pretty pleased with. Was excellent seeing 1/8 buggies racing again and could quite easily get sucked into having another go

Anyway, here are a couple of my favourites plus a link to the rest I took. Thanks again for the tips.

Nice shots! I'll have to get myself up to some more 1/8th events, they are quite fun to photograph.
