help please with steering on mad rat

im using tamiya wire system from a sand viper teu 101bk and servo and reciever .. just seem to have a problem going in a straight line plus my servo trim if full over to one side just to try and straighten the wheels..
im a complete newbie to this and a 41 year old begginer so any help would be good please ..

and another quick one is thier and clubs or anything in the woking area were i might get help with it ?

I would think you need to set all the trims on your handset to zero, or the middle, remove the servo horn from the servo and reattach it in a central position (with the wheels straight).

You just unscrew the servo horn, the thing that turns when you move the steering, you may need to take the servo out also to do that, and pop off the ballcups if needed. Reset the trims, power on the car and let the servo centre, replace the servo horn in a central position, put the servo back in, pop the ballcups back on and trim from there.

i got a problem i cant get the screws out the are hold the servo into the car they are the hex head ones and the hex has gone is thier any way to remove these screws ?

Dremel with a cutting disc, cut a slot in the screw and use a flat head screwdriver.

use a good quality allen driver and they will come undone as i doubt they are that tight the fixing on the ansmann are verry good so i doubt you have rounded the head off more like a cheep allen key

Hex screws can be difficult, the tool has to be just the right size, not sure if the madrat is metric or imperial, once you have the right size they are better than crosshead. you will get there.

Also once you,ve sorted out the servo horn is central, check the turnbuckles and adjust to suit.

will this set do the job EDS Racing Products 4 Piece Allen Driver Set (1.5,2.0,2.5,3.0mm)
will they get the dodgie screws out do you reckon ?
i did use a cheap bog standard allen when i built it .

should be fine, the Madrat is metric.

Also when you take the servo out, make sure the front wheels move side to side freely. If they are stiff to turn then your steering may be binding, and a weak servo will struggle to turn them. In that case, check over the steering posts etc and maybe back off the screws a quarter turn.

You can get good quality Allen keys from B&Q if you need em quick..I'm sure you'll have a DIY shop around somewhere, then order up some hex drivers later.

And as said the Madrat is Metric 2mm hex for most fittings.

teu 101bk motor wires are orange and blue
and the clash motor in the mad rat are blue and red...
I don't want to burn out the motor by having it setup wrong...

normally trigger forward is to brake. you pull the trigger to accelerate.

not sure on the wire colouring

you wont burn the motor out
just solder it and then see if reverse is faster than forwards, if it is then you need to swap the wires

You have it the right way...pushing trigger away from you is reverse, pulling towards you like firing a gun is accelerate.

new allen drivers worked perfect ..
now just one more question about servo setup im using ..
i set it as per instruction manual with the servo wheel on left as you look at the buggy ..
but when using the transmitter steering wheel i turn left the rat turns right is that correct ?

what transmitter are you using?
You may see 2 little black slider switches on your radio ...one for steering and one for forward /reverse .
Flick them to the other side and see what happens.

One quick question have you put ball racers into your madrat instead of the bushings?:confused:
