So, regional this weekend. Hopefully will be sun all around as weathers been nice up here. Any guesses on the winners with people doing well at the national this weekend, will anyone be up for it.

What’s the surface like this weekend? I realise it’s grass but what kind, dense and grippy (Batley like) or sparse and slippy(NERCR 2wd like?

For the guys that ran the nationals this weekend, any chance of a gentleman’s agreement not to run new tyres at any point???

Predictions, usual suspects, Bulk, Rich, Tom, Ben if he holds it together for a whole 2 qualifiers AND a final (optimistic).

Im just hoping to make the A again, i think Mr Lowe will take 4wd as the BJ4 is like a guided missile at the moment, 2wd is a lot more even, ill go for Craig Collinson.

Richard Lowe
12-06-2007, 07:27 AM
Don't discount that Greenwood chap in 2wd, he's been quick recently ;)

I'm running my tires from Bury, I'm sure Ben will go through 3 sets each day as usual :D

From what i remember, I think it may be a bit like batley but i am a bit unsure, I may go and have a look tonight to get an idea. As for results i think Richard Lowe or Criag collinson for 4wd and for 2wd it would either be Dan Greenwood or Tom Cockeril.

super__dan

Lee, are you the chap I talked too about jumping at Batley indoor meeting?

chrispattinson
12-06-2007, 08:36 AM
I'll go for Richard Lowe in 4WD, just ahead of Craig C and Snee. Dan Greenwood in 2WD, just ahead of Rich and Craig. (no pressure guys).

I'll be aiming to sneak into my second A final of the season, in Reading like 9th or 10th position.

like Batley or it was last time we raced there some 5 or 6 years back now

Typical, not going to risk blowing a brand new speedo to race in the rain despite being only a mile away. Is it okay If I race on the sunday in 4wd with my 2wd if I bring it up to weight?

super__dan

Yes, normally.

G - Got Kirkies wedding do Friday night so going up till Sat morning.

Bizarrely Vermin is going up Friday afternoon just to put his tent up so we can pit in it sat, then he's coming up sat night to stay over and race sunday.

You still on the wagon?

Maybe so but having to wait 6 weeks or so for a replacement under life time warranty isn't good :( if you only have 1 speedo as will be the case for more than a few racers around the country not just at this event. I'm lucky to have a few esc's but I'd still think twice these days about racing in the rain.

Maybe run the event indoors @ TRCC if it's to inclement but the roof does leak a little :)

At the end of the day you have to make your own call on the weather.

If you don't want to run in the wet then don't. And don't listen to the people who say you're soft because of it.

I know that I can't afford to replace the speedo and receiver in my cars. If other people can, or if getting one more set of scores is worth more than the cost of a speedo to them then leave them to it!

I made the mistake of running at the Batley regional last year, simply because I had driven so far I thought I should give it a try.

Thankfully my electronics survived, but I totally cooked one motor, failed to finish all but one of my races, drove home with jeans soaked up to my crotch, and had a thoroughly crap time!

So now I don't run in the wet. I race RC for fun, getting soaked to the skin and blowing stuff up is not my idea of it!

Anyway, does anybody think they might have a bit of spare room in their tents if they are taking them, because if it is raining then a gazebo isn't the best option as they will let a mist through.

But anyway lets hope for the best and that it stops raining for the weekend or at least lets up a bit.;)

Its 2WD, those cars dont take much cleaning when muddy!

In the interests of safety, should there be a thunder storm, will the meeting be paused until the storm passes? I'm just thinking that standing on an elevated platform, holding a long metal stick in the air isn't the safest position to be if there is lightning overhead.

The main gates to Preston Park will be locked at approx 9pm each evening, Gary Waller & myself will have access to the padlock key, please come & see us if you require a vehicle to be moved in or out of the premises after this time, we will give you one or both of our mobile numbers if you need to be out & back after this time. Please note the small side gates for pedestrian use are open at all times so if you do get stuck or have a night out & get a taxi back you can walk through into the venue. The track will be situated in the overflow carpark, turn right when you enter the park & follow the road aroud the back of Butterfly World & you will see the Trailer/rostrum. If you dont know me or Gary just ask someone to point us out. Gary will also have the keys to the toilets.
If you know someone who is not likely to read this please pass on these details, thank you.

Our H & S record must be quite good, lets keep it that way.

Hmmm, this monsoon putting me off. Glastonbury next week, I dont fancy wading round in mud 2 weeks on the trot.

If we've pre-registered but dont make it do we have to let anyone know beforehand?

I don't envy any of you racing tomorrow/Sunday!

The rain has been pretty bad all day and apparently isn't going to stop till Sunday, although it's down to "fine rain" at the moment.

Not sure about people going on about blowing up electrics in the wet, with proper waterproofing it's fine... I never had a problem at Teesdale or Batley last year. Could just buy an MRT speedo for the wet weather... they're properly waterproof!

AndyM / done a little research

Gearbox internal ratio stays the same but mmpr (millimetre per revolution) is the bit that matters when going to a larger tyre. Without changing the pinion/spur from 20/81 your rollout was to big a change for your 37's. On top of that you also had long, damp grass that creates drag on the car. Not sure how tall TR's are so guessed @ 86mm to show how they affect rollout.

Schumacher/Ballistic tyres
20/81 = 23.87mmpr

YokomoTR32
20/86 = 25.66mmpr

so you would need to fit 18/78 = 23.98mmpr to get near to 23.87 if you need to run TR32's

Well it was looking to be a good day for my first 4wd run in 13 or so years.

until I stripped the gears in the D4 rear gearbox.:(

Could've bodjed it back up, but my daughter wasn't feeling well either so we went home before the finals.

Well done to the teesside club for putting on a fantastic day.
The track was actually pretty good, despite only having one jump and being all grass, the undulations in the field added that little bit of extra intrest to the track.

I'll be back and more prepared for york.;)

Thanks to all at Teesside, and others that helped out with the track, for all your hard work over the weekend, especially considering the weather over the last week. The track was great both days, really enjoyed racing on a track with so many undulations, rather than loads of jumps, made a nice change, lets hope you can do it again next year!!!

Had my best results for many years over the weekend A7 & B3, helped by low numbers on Saturday and setup help for my BJ4 from Rich and Lee, many thanks for the tips, just need to get the thumbs going abit faster!!

Actually don't put yourself down Brett, you still would have been in the A even if all the usual suspects had turned up!

What I would say is rememeber that remember an early heat when it rains later is a good thing, so your F5 lincense didn't do you any harm this weekend did it ;)

Lee, you did great yesterday, get yourself to both the F3's and F2's and mix it big time!

From what I saw, most finals were relatively clean, some excellent driving. Well done to Rich, and to Lee who has suprised a lot of people with the transition from TC to buggys.

And please read this:

And a little cheeky promo for the event in South Shields, we really need drivers to attend if this is to progress into getting a superb permanent facility sorted for the North East. So can you book in using our online booking in service, see this thread for more details: http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3783

Message from Derek:

"Realised this on Sat at York based on comments.

Redid points table several times (auto system) and always missed 2 points at the top end of table, no idea why. So checked each event out compared to finals results and did Teesside manually - resubmitted to Brian for website last night.
