Hi all,

I know it's only March, but as this event is planned to be our "feature" event for 2010, I thought it best to start a thread so that everyone is in the loop.

For anyone who doesn't know, this is the largest car show in Ireland every year and the DMCC has a history of putting on demo racing as part of it during the 1990's.

The plan would be to get everyone known to the club who has a buggy, out and using it on that day to put on as much of a spectical as possible.

Dave will have more info as it starts to fall into place.

That's a very generous offer. We'll definitely have a chat closer to the time and sort something out.

This event is fast approaching.
Dave Bolger will have entry forms available from next week at racing and they must be returned by June 26th with full payment.

I cannot emphasise enough how important this day is for the growth of the club and we need all the support that we can get.

More info will be posted here as it emerges.

Hi All,

We've had a great response to this.

19 entries in 2wd
10 entries in 4wd

Entries are now closed; however if you have not entered and want to race you may take your chances and try and sweet talk Dave Bolger into letting you race.

Dave attented the event launch in the Mansion House and reported that he met the P.R.O. for the event and all is well. Dave has also ordered the crowd control barriers and a rostrum for racing.

Weather is going to be amazing!

Spectator safety barrier and rostrum is up. Grass cut once, another run round with the mowers should do it. Overall track length is 170m with room to extend if needed. The track has been cut with speed in mind and not too technical which should allow for some good close racing!!!!

It ended up a good day today.

The weather made if hard work at the start. Well, when I drove in and saw a gazebo / tent in the pond, I started to think would we get racing at all.

Thanks to everyone who turned up for the racing. It was a real team effort from everyone, great to see the club coming together for an important public event.

Special thanks to the lads from Cork who had a 3 hr drive to come racing today.

If anyone has photos from the day, please let me know.

MiCk B. :-)

There's a few people that need to be thanked for their efforts over the weekend...

Dave Bolger - for liaising with the organisers and securing a very good site
Eoin Keating - for supplying the top-notch PA system
Micheal Bolger - for donating the raffle prizes
Alan Dwyer + Co, - for making the effort to travel up from Cork
Dave Bolger again - for organising the barriers and rostrum
Michael O'Leary/Dave - for cutting a huge amount of grass
All racers - for putting on a good show and keeping the crowd entertained
Special thanks to all those who unpacked/packed Lucan on Friday and Sunday.

I think for a reformed club, really only in its first full season of proper racing in over 10 years that the club did well yesterday. With practice, I expect all racers to be able to work to a timetable soon - it was always going to be difficult to produce a timetable that would please both racers and spectators; yesterday I think the spectators won.

Don't forget William White too, for being a seriously good bloke and letting so many peeps pit in his awsome Marquee ! Also for sorting the drinks to keep us all hydrated (didn't help the wind/sun burn any !) and lolly pops for the millions of kids who loved the racing. Top job mate

Have to say had a great day yesterday, thanks to everyone involved in getting this event up and running. Pity about the sun burn i am suffering with today. Of all the days not to warn us about using sun cream Will.

Anyway took a few picks , not as many as i would have like but i was a little rushed getting cars charged and stuff.

Who's got my tent pegs?
Managed to misplace 12 x heavy duty tent pegs at the weekend - all about 8 - 10 inches long.... if you have them, please keep them for me.

Fo those who want a tent like mine, the link is below, but the price has gone up considerably. Still good value though....

Hi all,

Just a couple of things to wrap this event up;

1. I'll have the CD of photos from the photographer tomorrow - will put the good ones up on the club website. All others will be available on a CD from myself or Dave Bolger at the weekend.

2. I promised a mini-report, but I've been so busy since the meeting that I can't remember what the hell happened - so your not getting the report... sorry. I'll pay more attention next time.

3. The results are posted on www.dublinmodelracing.com (http://www.dublinmodelracing.com)

Hopefully this event will become a regular feature in the annual calendar.

Any sign of those photograhers shots.......?

I have 4 x DVD of photos - probably about 500 pics.
They are very "raw" - so I'll pick out the best ones and put onto a CD for those who want copies.

I'll put the best up on the website soon.
