Forgive me if this is a very basic question but I am new to brushless. I have a 3.5 Novak velocity brushless motor which is quite obviously too damn fast for most things but I got a cracking deal on it so I thought what the hell.

Can i just replace the 3.5 armature with a 5.5 / 6.5 or is it not that simple ?

Also if this is possible who in the uk might have these in stock ?

Cheers
Chris

Im not sure if you can do this but you can get the armature direct from the novak I belive.

Hiya mate, I'll move this to the electronics forum.

no sadly it's not quite that simple any more (brushed) you need to replace the actual motor can to slow things down, since that's where the winding is contained. Maybe you can swap motors with someone who wants a faster motor?

as Jimmy has said brusless is opposite to brushed

the rotor (armature) is now a shaft with a magnet on it
the can is now the windings, which is the part you need to change.

jimmy has made the sugestion of swapping with someone which is prob the best , or even try a shop, they may do a trade if yours is new

cheers for the advise guys, I have been out of the rc world for 15 ish years so brushless is still really new to me. I did know that they are opposite to brushed but I thought the rotors might be interchangable

A swap or sale was my next move so I might pop a post in the wanted / for sale section to see if I get any offers

I'm sure I read something in racer/rrci that mentioned swapping the nosram rotors for different turns, is that actually false then?

you can swap from bonded to sintered or the other way around but the actual motor windings are in the can therefore the rotor is just a magnet.

which makes em non legal at brca meeting as nosram/lrp dont sell motors with sintered apart from the 4.5

Either:
Turn down your endpoint or crank the expo on your radio.
