Hey all,

Just ordered the Sphere 2007 edition and a 5.5 X11 motor to go in my 501x.

Wondering about gearing options?

What would go well with an 87T replacement associated spur?

Also, what would go well with the stock 96T spur on the 501x?

How can I adjust this for more punch / less top and less punch / more top? Is it just like with brushed, i.e. raise a pinion for less punch / more top (plus hotter motor) and drop one tooth for the opposite?

Thanks all.

I run the same motor in my 501X - 16/87

punch? just change the ESC setting. I ran profile 1 yesterday as there was no need for punch really, especially early on when the track was moist. I ran profile 2 (a lil more punch) at Bury metro so I could clear the jumps. But if you want more punch you can just dial it in on the ESC. I wouldn't change the gearing too much.

I run mine on punch 7 at the moment with -5% throttle curve, no such thing as too much power :D

Gearing in the BJ is similar to Jimmy's at 12.65 overall. I've found with the brushless motors if it's geared wrong you just get no performance; undergeared everything gets hot, overgeared everything gets hot and the cells dump.

Okay thanks Jimmy. I was watching your TRF quite avidly (it was convenient as I was marshalling your race) and it seemed to go really well - even the race when the rear belt under the cf instead of over it, so it must have been pulling well! ;)

Rich - thanks for your advice. Your car was a blur and stupid fast! Not for my just yet, but well done lad!

Cheers all.

Yeah thanks mate, I told you not to mention that :D:D The cells went off toward the end of the race, but it's understandable with all that drag - the ESC got to 11 flashes which is three less than I've had before, so it got HOT.

I was running 35t black pulleys front (oneway) AND rear that day - so I guess that is 11.8 overall looking at the chart, which sounds slightly over geared to me - I will double check to make sure I've not got a 15t on there instead - but I have swapped out the larger rear pulley for the smaller one, which has effected it I guess.

Well the Sphere and X11 arrived this morning...so looking forward to checking it out. That was well quick to arrive! :o:D

If only I hadn't accidentally stabbed myself in the hand with a scalpel last night I might be able to use my hands properly. It's all swollen up and everything. I'm one finger typing here with my good hand. :(
