First post woot...

I'm about to rip the guts out of my S10 and replace them with the Losi 1/10 Xcelorin S 10.5T Brushless Combo.

What I'm wondering is what pinion gearing to put on the motor...

I see a few people going for 18-19 tooth, would this be the recommendation with the stock Spur gear ?

Oh to add...I don't need huge high end speed...so is it more teeth for acceleration or fewer ?

Thanks

Well my novak 8.5 is getting very hot with the 18/19 so maybe up to a 20/21 for now

Thanks :)

I'm still a bit of a novice when it comes to most things racing so I'm trying to figure a few things out...

I see two common types of pinions a 48 and a 0.6 ... I think the S10 Blast has a 0.6 is this right ?... is this the type I should be looking for? maybe a 20 tooth 0.6...

0.6 it is on the Blast.
Appparently .48 spur can be used with some shimming? (not tried myself)
My first tip is to check/loctite the grub screw on the drive cup near the slipper.mine came out after a few mins.
Handled well on the dirt at the PDA out of the box.
Front shock tower may be a weak point, not broke mine though.

Im running my novak 6.5 on an 18t pinion,i did try the kit pinion but thats to high ideal on your 8.5 nick

the only weak point i have found is the front shock i have cracked a few around the top 2 screw holes,im making a carbon brace to sit behind the tower to take some of the flex out of the tower, the other thing i would do is put some holes in the front of the shell as its such a good fit it does get a little warm but extra holes does help with better air flow

other than that the car is showing potential and im sure were going to see more around the tracks as the season goes on

Just wanted to bump this to see if anyone is running a 6.5T in theirs?

Mine seems a bit sluggish with the stock 21T in, so I borrowed a 23T pinion and it flew

Ran a 6.5 in mine, 19 or 20 tooth pinion. Drivetrain seemed to handle it well enough.

Hmmm, might go down then, doesn't feel that punchy through the corners, but doesn't seem that quick on the straights either :(
