I used one of the bluebird lowprofile servos in my rc10 vintage to race at york. I did a couple of meetings with it but after the final stripped the gears. if I'd been using a servo saver (I zip tied the rc10 saver) it might have been ok.. very cheap and pretty quick too.

well its only for my nitro crt.5 (1/12th scale) on the steering, but would like metal gears because its offroad and v quick..who stocks them jimmy?

ive run the old bluebirds years ago in the b3 and they didnt last too long..casings cracked and gears stripped altho only plastic geared.

have the new ones improved much?

The racing ones which are non-lowprofile are good - the very latest ones like Stu Wood is running (team driver) are really good.

The lowprofile is pretty much as you describe, plastic gears and not very strong - but it's made for airplane use not cars.

I use a KO lowprofile servo in my tamiya 501X - I took out a cheap bluebird 617 (std size) servo which I'd been running for ages and it performed very well.

ok cheers jimmy

the problem is that the crt.5 is designed for mini servos..having trashed 2 hitec mini 225mg servos in 1 day im going to see if i can fit a low profile in,a standard servo wont fit as theres no room as it would foul the center driveshaft as the servo is layed flat with the horn to the outside.

Not sure where abouts you are dave, but if you're going to the meet in the North East on Sat I've got a low profile bluebird servo I think. You can have a look and if its what you're after I'm sure we can do a deal. I'll look up which model it is tonight and let you know.
