Raced at braxted on sunday with my son who is eleven years old.

First time outdoor racing for him, last time i raced outdoors i had a lazer zxr with 1700 scr nicds and a demon 17 double.

We normally race the micro lrp sharks indoors but fancied a bit of outdoor racing through the summer.

Car choice, was it going to be just for fun or was it going to be full out competition racing.

Just for a start to see if my son would enjoy it i purchaed a madrat with the bearing option for him and the xpro for me.

Put an old putnam 27 turn motor in my boys car an old 2400 lipo futaba 3003 servo tyre choice were some mini spikes that someone suggested to use.

My xpro had an lrp sphere speedo a 8.5 novak ballistic motor lrp 5300 40 c lipo hitec titanium geared servo same tyres as my son.

I qualified first and ftd the boy qualified 5th, in the final i came first with my full race xpro and the boy with a standard madrat came 4th 14 seconds behind me.

So to be competetive you don't have to spend a fortune on the latest and best kit mad rat or xpro dos'nt matter they are both brilliant for the money.

By the way after round three i was 5 seconds quicker than a full spec cat sx 4wd.

PS.
My sons bagged the xpro i'm runnig the madrat next round.

He's going to obliterate you with the xpro

I love being asked why I'm going so slow by 11 year olds :woot:

Hi silent bob,

Set up for the xpro.

Tyres kyosho mini pins, medium compound f&r,soft inserts.

Weight bias 60% rear 40%front.

Shocks kit springs (black ones) 40wt oil front 30wt oil rear.

Shock position front, inner hole mount outer hole wishbone.

Shock position rear same as front.

Camber 0 degrees front 2 degrees rear.

Front 2 degrees tow out.

40 gram brass weight under battery rear bias.

Droop 10 mm front and rear.

Need to see if i can get an anti roll bar for rear just to give a bit more bite to the steering.Other than that it's a superb car.

Hope this helps silentbob.
