Try http://www.racingfactory.fi/shop2/cat/product_details.php?p=850

btw if the Kyosho cups fit they'd be the best I think..

I've got the Serpent ones on my 501X right now. With the kit turnbuckles though there isn't a heck of a lot of rod in the rod end. I might switch over to some B4 titanium turnbuckles for the extra length - but the short serpent ball cups don't give a lot of adjustment.
I gave the car an immense beating and the ball cups never jumped off.. they aren't a direct fit though and have a bit of friction unless you are careful - so not ideal.

On woodys car this weekend I tried some Hot Bodies D4 ball cups - but they are a smaller size and need HB ball studs too. But he didn't have a failure and they seem a good fit with the kit / kanzen ti turnbuckles.

Elite Models / Elite models in Halifax is the UK Importer - but I'm sure other shops can get this stuff. I will post a few words on them soon maybe :) They are good, not ideal - but then I've not found anything that is yet. The Tamiya ones are good for a couple of meetings, then get progressively worse.

I'm using RPM bal cups. Had to change the ball studs to Schumachers

I use the ball cups from the RB5 Ultima on my car - no problems since I fitted them, plus they are the same size as the original ballstuds so no need to change other parts :)

Schumachers use a metric thread. That's what I used anyway

Ahahah, those Tamiya ball cups are so crap! I popped them off twice today and did NOT even hit anything.

I'm going to order the Kyosho cups..

Are these the Losi ball cups Hupo Hönigl was using on his 501X: http://www.losipartshouse.com/servlet/the-21533/LOSA6015-Super-Duty-Ball/Detail ?
Do they fit the stock turnbuckles of the car?

jimmy

yes and yes - just remember Hupo was running yokomo ball studs, I think Hotbodies would work also though.

Unfortunately no.

You will need Schumacher, Yokomo, or HPI Ball studs.

I am using the d4 studs, though I'm using d4 cups as well.. but the losi cups should fit though I've not tried.

Hi Jimmy,
I'm thinking of following your example and buying myself the HPI Heavy Duty Ball Cups and the ball studs for the D4. Does it require any modification to my TRF501x parts? Thanks in advance.

no, the only thing I noticed though was the ball cup on the inside hole on the rear camber link - the HB ball cups will slightly rub on the chassis, it's only slight though so you can either sand them down or leave it.. I left it.

Other than that, I think it's all good. I won my first regional today with the HB stuff on. I am using B4 turnbuckles but the kit ones will do the same job.

Thanks Jimmy!
And congratulations on your win :D
Oh yeah. And thanks for this awesome website.
It was your articles that made me get the 501x as well as the nosram matrix evo 2007.

Im running the grey Schumacher ball cups but I also use the Schumacher ball studs too.I wasnt happy with the original tie rods so I opted for some tungsten items aswell.Never had anything come off yet.

The Kyosho ball cups are a direct fit. They feel very free, but I've been racing with them for 3 weeks and haven't had one come off yet.
