as per title really, how hot are your motors running and on what setup, with what cooling?? i ran my losi8e on 4 cells to give it a try, intending to try six cells now as the 1400kv motor is far more suited to higher voltage, 14 tooth pinion, after ten minutes you could just hold motor, felt very hot so i am a little concerned that motor temperature may get too high with the extra 2 cells on the same gearing. car was too slow on 4 cells, about the same as a tenth buggy on a stock motor

Well "it felt hot to the touch" isnt really accurate. I agree 1400kv on a 4cell is slow you need 1800-2200 for 4cell. 6cell will be even cooler actually. Normal operating range is 130-160F. Also remember what you temp the outer can at can be up to 50Deg F hotter at the core. If it over heats in the core it could loose magnetism. That over heat is 200-220Deg F.

Personally i run a 4s 1900kv tekin set up with a losi 8E body with front windshield cut out. this gives me 5 vents of cooling and I run about 145F. Speedo about the same temp.

If your running the Losi I'd definitely recommend their motor heatsink!

This will be in celcius, but after a 45 minute final, my esc temp were 47(without fan) and motor at about 80.

Ya i was posting in F you need to convert. I run the high ventilation body so I dont have to run heat sinks or fans on my ESC.

i dont have anything to accurately measure temperature of motor, but from how it felt to how hot the heating pipes are with the cutoff at 65 degrees C on the boiler it was definately cooler than that. speedo was hardly warm at all, in fact the centre diff was probably warmer than the speedo. will have to try and borrow a thermal gun and try it again on six cell. also going to add a small vane inside the body to help direct the airflow down onto the motor more
