strange, that track did eat cars ever since it opened at the very begining of it's life,That tripple at the back was evil. I thought the new layout looked as if it was far more car friendly...must be the surface:eh?:.hope to head out that way one sunday as it's a nice track to drive....once you get the hang of it:D

How was the sand? Did it chew spur gears or not?

wes
25-05-2010, 08:02 AM
Yes Ian I can confirm it was 4 front towers on the B4:thumbdown:, but i did them on the easy parts of the track. Track was very sandy on saturday but the racing line cleaned up on sunday and I didnt know of sand being a issue to spurs, wasn't getting into the Durango anyway.

Any sand/grit that gets into the teeth will chew a spur up.

Can't wait to race on this track on sunday, looks pretty rewarding IF you get it right....IF! lol

Was reffering to the fact I wasnt aware of any car failures over the weekend from sand, mine where sand free all day. Think that the club are going to try and clear the loose stuff off line before next weeks meeting.

Cleared a few grains from my spur throughtout rhe day. Nothing too serious though. Car looks like it has been shot blasted though :(

I just think he's hacked off by being out qualified by a 2wd.... ;)

No pressure for the 2wd Regional now then Dan

Agree, a good meeting.

A few niggles, Obviously the motoX bikes are an unnavoidable noise, but the stock cars behind made it bloody difficult to hear 1)your car 2)Charlie when reffing and 3) the PA system.

The diagonal sections, I think would have been better as straight lines, I think it would've been more 'race-able', as with the current layout, that section is VERY bumpy and unless you have the perfect set-up is difficult to get though without losing control over the bumps. But being straight it would have made it easier to race with other cars.

The wind was a pain...but can't be avoided...must get some better wind deflectors. You want to put another rostrum on the other side so we can choose which side to race from, depending on wind direction!:p

Other than that I am prefering the layout to last years. :) Not sure how close the C final was, but I think I lost it by a transponders length I think. Good stuff though!
Think I'm ready for some new tyres as half way into the race I had no grip and the tyres feel like they are made of balloon rubber. Very flimsy.

Yeah Dan was on it with his 2WD in our 4WD heat and we had some good toe to toe racing  - credit due!

As for the tyres Tel - check your inserts as Nick was using some that collapsed the week before and had the same effect.

Cheers Rich, will do. They are the Schuey green inserts. Will check them out. ;)

Good day, despite it not going well for me at all! Didn't finish any qualifier and only just finished my final, but with a broken rear shock tower for the last 2 laps!!!

On the PA system, the speakers need to be higher up and maybe 1 or 2 on the far side of the track, you could hear it if you were stood track side, but a few meters away and nothing at all!!! Maybe mount the one by the rostrum higher up on the legs and facing upwards, 1 or 2 around the far side and one higher up on the cabin

+1

the noise from the bikes and stock cars made hearing the PA virtually impossible too.

Big well done to the Holbeach crew for a superb meeting, think there would have been far more complaints had last weekends practice meeting not took place as I know a massive amount of work went on last weekend thoughout the day to improve the venue.

I think the Holbeach crew have done a fantastic job on the the track It's a lot easier to be consistent around the track than it was in the previous times I have been there. I had my best meeting ever at eastrax this sunday, I could just never get on with the previous track.

Essentially this was their first major meeting for them since taking over the track and despite a few teething troubles, I think the day went well. Holbeach needed to do the open meeting the week before so they knew what to expect for the regional the week after, hence the sand was swept off the track before Sunday meaning there was a lot more grip than there would have been the week before. I think that having a meeting the week before enabled us to have a pretty hassle free meeting the week after.

Kudos to all the Holbeach team.
