Hi all, I recently got an x10 second hand. I am wondering how to find out if it was an early version or more recent? Can you tell this by the serial number the car comes with?

you can.

if the last three digits are below 250 it's one of the kits from the first batch.

if the number is between 250 & 500 it's from the "second" batch of cars, but still "early" ones.

anything after that, and it's a "late" version, but it will definately include all the "in-progress" upgrades, such as collars around the drive pinions, stainless steering link, upgraded (toughened) front gearbox top, arctic white wheels and improved motor clamp.

The initial batch had none of those improved items and a carbon fibre steering link that was .25mm thick. oh, how we laughed :o

The second batch, depending upon how late in the numbers you get had some, if not all of the above mentioned parts, but there doesn't appear to be a uniform release.

Indeed, in the first batches of X10 some had anodised motor mounts that were black, others appeared "natural".

Hi,
i'm a little confused now ( its not difficult :D ). My car has the carbon front wing mount with the number 5008 on it. Does this mean its a late one? (sorry for being thick, I'm Welsh) :D

whats the complete number on the wing mount? is it just 5008? if it is it will probably be a late one, so it "should" have all the upgrades on.

i hope i haven't confused you further. I'm not welsh, but i am easily confused :wtf:

Hi,
i made a slight mistake with the number, its 50008 not 5008.:eh?: I presume that makes it even later then? What are the upgraded parts to look for on it? I know it doesnt have the same wing mount as what is pictured in the manual. Its black plastic.
I dont suppose it really matters to me if its early or late, but i thought it would be interesting to find out.
Thanks again for your help. ;)

Early front suspension rockers (not a bad thing ;) ) new motor clamp (and probably motor disk (does it have a groove in the bit that is clamped?).

Losi wing mounts, not a bad thing either ;)

Probably has the steel pinion sleeves in the transmission.

Looks a great car, was it Tim Woods?

I actually got the car off a chap via oople, think his name was paul, (eastraxrc is his username). The car was real dirty when i got it, so I downloaded the manual for it, stripped the car to its bare bones and re-built it. put a new shell on too. It looks pretty good now. I am hoping to run it on Friday night at elsmere port off roaders.
Unfortunatley, I woke up today to find out I have been the victim of credit card fraud :( . My bank account has now been frozen so any parts i need are going to have to wait. If i never run the car, i wont be all that bothered to be honest, I just love the look of it! :D
