Hi

I have an B44. I run on a large astroturf track.

I run an Novak GTB Brushless Speedo, with a Novak 5.5R velociti motor.

An 84spur, what pinion should I use?

If I use a Novak 5.5balistic would the gearing be different from the above motor, if so, what would you recommend?

Thanks

On my 5.5 LRPX12 I use a 18 pinion - i wouldn't of thought that would be far off - hope this helps you

I can tell you what gearing I'm on a BJ4 tomorrow when I'm home, but with regard motors I've run both in the car, the newer Ballistic ones fell really very similair in terms of performance I think but do run a little bit cooler, of course you can change the motor timing too. I would start with same gearing and take it from there.

Thanks for the advice.

Also the ESC is therm out after about 3mins, when running an 20pinion. Any ideas?

I run an x11 5.5 with a losi esc indoors with an 18t pinion. Aside from being far too fast it's good and has never therm out even after 10-12 min. I've been told to run a 22-23t for outdoors...

Glad this thread has come up, I run 84/18 and my motor gets very very hot, I have now added a fan, but it doesnt seem to do much.

Motor is a 5.5L Novak with an LRP Shere TC, does this sound about right?

hey last week i ran a 6.5r velociti motor with 20/84 gearing and the motor was very very hot and i noticed that around the 4min mark the motor started to loose power i change the gearing to 18/84 and it was still the same so i'm thinking there might be some thing wrong with the motor.yesturday i ran a 5.5r velociti with 20/81 all day and no problems at all the temp of the motor was just right hope this helps:thumbsup:

I ran a 21T pinion on my SP V3 5.5 at talywain today and the motor barely got hot at all.

Is motor gearing also dependent on what lipo's we are using?
I say this because it seems people can run the same set up motor & speedo wise but motor temps can differ a fair bit.
So basically does running different c rating/mah lipo's afect how hot motors run

never noticed it myself. I have a 3800mah 25c pack I use for practice and then 4200mah 35c packs for races and don't seem to have much variance in motor temp
