Hello, welcome to the world of the Predator :)
I'll have a go at answering some of your questions however, if you go over and have a look at www.the-pred.co.uk (http://www.the-pred.co.uk) you will find a whole host of helpful predator enthusiasts, you will find set ups, gearing advice and build tips about your new car. (Sorry about puttin a link on Jimmy it would be useful for Greeny to visit there though)
1. This does depend on which cells you are using as well as motor make. Using 4200 cells, I would be looking at around a 21 tooth pinion with a standard pred spur.
2. The set ups provided with your x10 manual are reasonably useful, the set up section over in the-pred.co.uk has a number of my own personal set ups and some the other guys have found to work well in the UK on a number of surfaces, give that a look over. The one that a lot of people tend to start with is this one here: http://www.the-pred.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2.0
3. Not particularly... the front gearbox top has a reputation for being a weak point but I wouldn't say there was anything on the car that is particularly fragile... oh except the wing mounts! these are quite poor, and I would recommend using Losi mounts if you can get some.
4. General items: spur gears, upper and lower wishbones, hub carriers and plastic rod ends, plastic bud ends for the driveshafts, and wing mounts if you don't use losi ones.
5. Schumacher yellow minispikes are the most common tyre choice when the track is dry. when wet, either schumacher green minispikes are Ballistic Buggy minispikes are a good choice. In either tyre, use a medium insert and make a small hole in the inside of your wheel to allow the tyre to "breathe".
Hope this helps, post any other queries you have, and enjoy your new car!

Or you could use the new X11 wing mounts which are virtually indestructible!
These are available on www.xtreme-rc.biz
Under the category Predator ;)
