Losi JRX2 rescued from the shed!

After many many years out of the game I've just had my interest rekindled by a few sessions of Mardave banger racing with my nephew... Which led me to dig out some old kit from my brother-in-laws shed! I had forgotten that when I packed up and sold my Procat, my 40mhz gear and all my decent motors and cells, I kept one choice item... My Losi JRX2 and a few other choice items, Shinwa Motor Dresser and MPS Slope charger.

Also used to do a lot of the nationals and the indoor champs at Mansfield.

I've got the losi running again, with few new bits... the amazing thing is that the one set of old Sanyo 1700s that have been in the shed for 15+ years still charge and the old Parma motor still goes like stink.:thumbsup:

Loving the Yokomo rear wheels and tyres - the lengths we'd go to to get 2.2" wheels/tyres!

I've still got the trailing arm parts:thumbsup:, but havn't check that everything is there, I got the spur a couple of weeks ago on ebay. I've got yokomo fronts as well, will post photos of the other bits and bobs and a vid of it running in my garden soon. ;)

Thanks, could be Tamiya, I used to race the Peterborough tamiya series back in the day, so would make sense. But I seem to remember they something else, nice bits of kit in there day exterally adjustable pistons and nice ball joint ends.

Those front shocks I believe are Kyosho 'platinum' shocks - regarded by many as being the best, operation-wise - but were a bit on the weighty side compared to say the Option House gold, they came on the real high-end Kyosho models.

Really excited about your JRX2 find Sancho, I really hankered after one when I was a young R/C racer, my mate had one but I had to make do with my Mardave Meteor :cry: Yours looks really nice, and the paint job is suitably retro :thumbsup:

I've realised my dreams & now own a pretty nice JRX2 runner (also with the H-Arm rear set-up) & a lightly used JRX Pro.... I also have enough spares (except for a chassis plate - see my wanted thread) to build a new one :cool:

Edit; I've raced a few times at Holbeach (more mid to late 90s) usually when they held regional meeting, I can remember racing in a pub garden.... but mostly at the track behind the rather odd/creepy motel.

Hahaha exactly the same here, we had that Dresser and Charger in the early days!!!! The dresser was really handy for running in freshly skimmed & brushed motors if not just setting up the timing - i remember my Dad using it everytime seeing how much current each motor was drawing, then adjusting it until it was perfect

That's the one, he traded as FABIIX and also did the Yuasa cells.

And I used to run similar Yokomo wheel adapters on the back of my RC10.

Nice car Sancho, get it up and running! Hopefully your local club will do a vintage series. We've done one and it's been a blast!

Yeah I couldn't believe how well it went considering the 15 year old 1700SCEs have only been cycled a few times and on the Slope charger and bulbs. The motor is an old Trinity monster horsepower 15T in an old parma can with a yokomo end bell....

It's seems only a bit slower than I remmeber from back in the 90s :confused:

Here's a good question for someone, the cells are "Greyhound Power" matched cells, that I think I got at the Mansfield indoor nationals sometime in the early ninties, these cells were always great, I had 6 pack back in the day.... Anyone remember them?

I had 2 JRX2's back in the very late 80's or it might have been 1990, I can't remember.
The first one had the flat Carbon Chassis like yours, the second was a little newer and had the molded composite chassis, I liked the carbon better because the composite broke on me twice back close to the motor.

I had all the woo hoo stuff from Aluminum Wheels, titanium turnbuckles and a slip clutch, they where awesome.
Thanks to my ex they're gone. (Wiping a tear from Eye)

I'll bet that sucker would scream with a brusless motor and controller.

I had some matched Batt sets and even made some 8 Cell sets of my own.
They gave a tiny bit longer run time but really boosted the speed.
They also got the motor really hot and I'd have to rest the buggy between runs.

I later got the Truck conversion kit for both and made one a 1950 Ford and the other a Ford stadium Truck with big tires all around.
They ran very well and I had many Years of enjoyment from them both.

After all those Years I finally got back into the sport and thankfully Losi is still in business.
I got the Ten T Tuggy and have really been having fun.
I forgot just how much fun these Trucks can be.
