I noticed alot of geared diffs a long time ago just used black grease.
if I was to used say Associated black grease on my diffs, what weight oil would it compare to?
If I used the grease for both front and rear, how would it make the car handle?
Hi mate,
if i were you i wouldnt use associated black grease in your diffs. Why would you want to when you would have no idea what weight your using.
The diffs would work but i imagine they would be very tight as associated black grease is very thick. Going very heavy in diff oils makes the diff rotate less when going round corners, which gives you less overall grip.
Your best off buying diff oils and sticking to one brand. That way you know exactly what weight your using. There are loads of set ups on Team Durango's web site so you can check out what other people are using on different tracks.
Hope this helps

just sick of the diffs leaking is all.
however have not tried the kyosho seals yet
Here is a link on how to build your diffs and seal them best as possible:

Instead of the green slime i use waterproof grease which can be bought here:

I can race my car for weeks on end after using this stuff without having to refill the diffs.

Hi,
So you put this in the area where the green slim would normally be as per Durango site?
Yes mate. I prefer this to the green slims as its a waterproof grease. The diff oil kind of rebounds off it which seals up the diff and prevents the oil from leaking through.
You will get some leaking over time but ive found when using this the leaking is kept to a minimum.
