Ok, fair enough, quiet a bit off, and we haven't even completed qualifying for it yet - however, with the 4wd national done and dusted it may be time to at least be thinking about it :)

I've heard a rumour that someone is thinking about driving!! - so here are the facts to help you decide:

DRIVING:
Dublin to Vaasa - 3,245km (6,490km return)
Cost of ferries (car) - 560 euro (much more for camper)
Tolls - 160 euro
Fuel (35 mpg average) - 600 euro
Baggage: no weight limit, but must fit in the car/camper
Time: with a two or three drivers, 2 and a bit days each way

FLYING:
Aer Lingus Dublin to Helsinki: 140 euro
Blue1 Helsinki to Vassa: 95 euro
Baggage: up to 15kg
Freight: 30kg Hauler Bag to Vaasa from Dublin is 100 Euro with TNT
2 Haulers strapped together @ 60kg is about 150 euro.
Time: 8 hours door to door including time during transfer.

This is a no brainer........

Gutted! Just looked at the holiday calendar in work for next year, which I expected to be completly empty. There's one entry: Flying Fifteen (dinghy sailing) World Championships July 14 - 28 2011 and underlined in red is "No-one to take time off here"...... fook! Looks like I'll have to go to the Euros instead :(

I was advised at the weekend that the date (above) for the Worlds is only the proposed date.

As the snow must fully retreat, and the warm up taking place 2 month prior to the main event - this date is a little more than unsure.
The event may occur in August/September.

We won't know till October roughly - so don;t go booking any flights just yet :)

I am strongly thinkin of going to this. Even if I don't place high enough in this years nationals to qualify to race at the event, I'll still prob go to watch.

I guess that big triple will go, the last thing you need is a big stackable jump to ruin a close race
