Drilling Pistons ?

Just building my 410R, and looking for a base setup, I keep seeing (when I find a setup sheet that is populated with data, most appear blank for some reason...)
anyhow, I see that most drivers are drilling the pistons ?

Why is this, and what's the common setup people are using for grass / astro etc (Bury / Batley / Southport).

i think its somthing to do wth the fact we race on grass rather than clay,i could be wrong,i dont know why they are blank,if you go on TD web site there are loads of setups,iv found you need to find out who you driving style is like and follow theres,iv found Craig Colings(sorry if thats wrong:p)HULK on the forum is what suits me best,im sure some one will help you out more:thumbsup:

Hi mate,

the reason we started drilling pistons is to give the car less pack and make it better over bumps. The holes as standard are too small for our UK tracks, which tend not to have many big jumps but are quite bumpy.

The bigger the hole is the quicker the shock can react when hitting a bump, therefore allowing the tyres to keep in contact with the ground and keeping the car settled. From quite a bit of testing we have found that you want to be using 3 hole pistons on the rear drilled to either 1.3 or 1.4mm (1.4mm if the track is really bumpy), and 2 hole pistons on the front drilled to 1.3mm.

There are loads of set ups on the TD website, and im sure there are some set up sheets for most of the tracks you mentioned.
