hey

i have a question, do you guys also have problems with the bearing in your cougar sv.
i think they are the worst bearings i have ever seen.
i had a broken bearing from the diff, one of the layshaft, one of the front wheel, 2 of the rear blocks.
i think this is not normal for this great car.
now i wanne know if there are better aftermarkt bearing then the schumacher ones, the ceramic bearings from schumacher are they much better?, because they are a bit expensive..
or have you a better option.

but i love my 2cougars
grtz jeffrey

If you got the Pro, you got Ceramic bearings anyways, and they are no more reliable....

I've had the same problems with the layshaft bearing.I think a lot is to do with the gear box with the bad moulding.
Where trying some bearings at this moment in time so will let you know .

Are you sure, my collapsed bearings certainly look like steel balls.

According to the press releases, the SV Pro was suppose to have Ceramic bearings.. that was one of the differences between the Pro and Race.

thought it was ceramic diff balls?

odd that, I may be wrong, but when I looked at the differences before release, I am sure it mentioned ceramic bearings....

Mine deffo has ceramic diff balls but don't think the bearings are ceramic, and at the price quoted for ceramic bearing set I wouldn't imagine they are. 79.99GBP according to the schuey site for a 26 piece set!!!!!!

From what I understood the car only comes with ceramic diff balls.

I'm just stocking up on rc bearings and throwing them away once they feel duff / knackered.

As for a good place to get replacements, www.rcbearings.co.uk have always managed to sort me out, more often next day if I put the order in early enough!

I've had the same problem with one of the layshaft bearings. Almost nothing was left of it. The balls where shredded... Took one bearing from my spare car

I had the same issues with the CAT, found the bearings wouldn't last long at all. I bought a Cougar just recently and see the same thing. I replaced the CAT bearings with "Revolutions" from avidrc.com and they work very well and don't cost to much either.

Hello all,

The bearings of this great car are absolutely crap, the worst bearings
I have ever seen in a race kit.
I have my Cougar for 2 months now, 5 or 6 bearings on different places on the car are worn out (after inspection), and one on the lay shaft just exploded today (which was reason for the inspection).
A buddy of mine has blown up a couple of lay-shaft bearings and he was surprised that this was my first lay shaft bearing that went to see it's maker.
That is far from normal for a kit of this price.
I think I'm going to send Schumacher a message about this.
I doubt that I will be the first to do so...
I was about to order a Cat SXII but I'm having second thoughts now....

Think I am going to order a boca kit pending price. At minimum for diff and lay shaft

Don't know if I'm lucky or what, but have std Pro kit, 5 races on carpet/very dusty tracks and all bearings are just fine.
Only thing I might did different than most - I flushed bearings with brake cleaner right away and lubed them with GT85.

helo,

Excuse my english but i m a french boy living in Spain.

I have the same probleme with my cougar sv PRO.

I think it s not normal from schumacher.

All my transmition is dead because the ball of bearing have destruid all the transmition..

i don t know what is the solution.

In schumacher i suppose that they are thinking a solution...

hasta luego, a bientot, best regards.:cry:

Both of my layshaft bearings are gone. The last one to go did a number on the gears as well.

My outdrive bearings are gritty and the front wheels squeak.
