I can bring a wireless access point to try if it helps? Everyone would ignore the router's wifi connection and connect through the access point instead.

Need some decent wireless APs in repeater mode maybe? Netgear WG602 are ok in repeater mode and cheap

If there is internet access major firewall mode going to be turned on. Don't want anyone packet sniffing etc. Dirty network (sorry I'll get my coat - LOL)

Wow Haskell's back!

Anyone know when "draft" the heat listings will be published?

They won't be from the looks of it. Practise listing might appear though...

Re : Talk PETIT RCcultural RACE 2011
Racing Format

Drivers will be sorted into practice groups based on their claimed ability when they entered. Fastest Drivers will be in the earlier groups. The Trucks will be placed among the earlier groups. Slowest drivers will be in the middle groups. Practice will be timed. After Practice the Heat groups will be made ranked by each driver's best 3 consectuve laps in practice. You will need car numbers on your car during practice so that in the unlikely (LOL) event that you gave us the wrong PT number we can try to correct it. Check the practice group listing (available from Thursday evening in the middle frame) to make sure you gave us the correct number.

The faster drivers will be in the earlier heat groups. Slowest drivers will be in the middle groups. The reason for this is so that the practice A Final can take place while the Finals are being sorted and numbers distributed. We are running a lot of races so we need to save time.

Finals will be sorted by best single time in qualifying, not round points. The 3 leg finals will be scored using the EFRA 2010 rule.

This information will be updated during the event.

ATTENTION EUROPEANS!!

I'm interested in buying some Euros, straight swap for British Pounds, avoid commission etc. Done at whatever rate is current on the day we exchange. Looking for around 500 Euros in total, so maybe do it with a few people. PM me if you are interested. I need some Euros for a holiday in Feb and this way you and I could benefit. :-)

All British, but I have 70e in the wallet if you need them. (Could be more, but the photocopier can't replicate them well enough!)

After getting a bit of track time today I feel sorry for the people who didn't get chance to do the same before the event, the carpet is very strange and they'll be on the back foot all weekend :(

It was said earlier the practice sessions would be run with carpet on top of the new carpet so people wouldn't get any advantage - yet I turn up today and the whole track is the new stuff

Good to see lee knocking jorn off his regular 2wd win !!! Does anyone know if Jorn Neumann was running the durango 2wd ?

Yes he was and i have to say, he was pretty awesome with it. To be fair, he was the quickest there. Couple of unfortunate accidents saw enough time each time for Lee to pull out enough to hang on for the Wins.
He was soo much quicker through some sections, the car looked awesome.

But i will say, Lee did a Cracking job and definitely deserved the Overall Win. He coped with the pressure and made the fewest mistakes, which is what it's all about.

Brilliant for Lee to win, such a nice bloke. And the relief on his face when he crossed the line in Leg 3, was big. Head back and big Phew !!! lol

Awesome job by all the A Finalists.

Just got home after leaving at 7:30. Fantastic race and even though I was low in the pecking order it was still exhilarating racing which is what it is all about. Hope to get a video of my Durango doing the 360 back flip off the jump. Felt good but the rear bulkhead gave out on the landing. At least in the UFO race I saw it happen to Hupo on both ends of the Durango!

Best race by far for me over the weekend was the ufo. No winners at all as we all killed our cars but hats off to Hupo with his jump which came very close to hitting the steel girder in the ceiling, pity he wrecked it when he landed. My truck is now RIP but the jumps it did going the wrong way round the track did do it justice. Great fun.

Oh yes those melons in the pucture tasted lovely and was asked by soneone before the race to do again and when the race finished i couldnt resist. Did anyone manage to get a picture of it whilst i was on the rostrum?

Back of the track at 10:00 this morning to clean up and turn it back into a TC track ready for opening time tomorrow. 20 hours sleep over 6 days solid work but it was all worth it for the atmosphere. :-) hope you want it back for next year. Basically its a no rules do whatever you like race so cutting the track, take outs going the wrong way around the track is legit hence why i was doing all of them. Huge thanks and well done to the Ardent crew, the meeting ran super smooth, everyone was really friendly, i met some really cool people, pitted with some top Turkish chaps and it all produced a fantastic atmosphere. Also a mention to MB models!, i spent half my weekend at the shop and they stocked everything! thanks chaps!

Personally i had a disaster in terms of results, mainly from car reliability issues on both days and a lack of carpet experience but it didn't detract from a fantastic weekend. Hupo's jump at the end.......lol, legend!

Another good meeting, if a little long :) I thought the tracks were both very good other than that spine jump thingy which I wasn't keen on personally.

Petit is all about the show and there was certainly plenty of that all weekend so well done to all involved.

Not sure I will be doing Petit again next year though.

Yep it was a good meeting.

Personally, overall happy with how I went on both days.

But there were a few things that I felt let the event down.
The PA for the week-end was very poor, could hear very little of what was being said in the pits or on the rostrum.
The track was a fair layout, apart from the blue jump, which was more of an obstacle. From all the 'talk' was expecting more of a changeling layout, but it was a good track to race and watch racing on.

The last one was the commentary, which was hit and miss. The actual commentary on an individual race was very good. Hats off to the commentators as it's a difficult job. But not every heat was commentated on. This in my opinion made it unfair. With out the commentary it can be difficult to know if your faster / lapping a car or both on the same pace.

There's great potential in the venue. It could be a great location for future events.

It was great again to see such a good turnout for an electric off-road event so early in the new year. With so many drivers and manufactures present (including shops), it really proves that 1/10 off-road is growing again.

Have to agree with the comments you have made there Mick it would have been nice for all the races to have been commentated so that if you had issues in practice and got a bad seeding then it could have helped. The system at Maritime was great for that as you could hear the system say car x is about to be lapped or the commentator would announce this. The PA was very bad and I could not work out what the voice on the computer was saying regarding the heat number at all over the weekend and really felt for Nicholas as it was really bad trying to understand him whilst doing the raffle. I also think that as we had BBK Software actually running the meeting that the information to the racers would be much better i.e. Wifi, extra race info screens dotted around the circuit or even the racing projected at a white wall like they do at the Neo event.

Not really offroad me thinks......

fantastic venue, good organisers behind it, great raffle, good pits, massive breakfast rolls, great carpet, superb space, plenty warm enough, nice people involved, brilliant location, top racing, crap PA system, useless refereeing, disappointing track, unfair amounts of pre-practice, rubbish jumps, lot of "talk".....

7.5 out of 10

hello Everybody,

Many thanks to all for coming and enjoyed the weekend. BIG BIG thanks to John and Ardent crew and volunteers on Friday evening to build the track. I will develop soon my thanks in other post soon on Petitrc website.

About "lots of talk" I would like to tell you that I am VERY disappointed of some of you (1st time in 3 edition in England) about 2 points:

- On Saturday evening I trust all of you and let you to take your Raffle products with your ticket and let also big products on the table.
When all of you went out, I saw that some of big Raffles products disappeared:
- 2 Speedpassion motors
- 2 Speedpassion speedo
- 3 Acorn Racing batteries

Also I ordered 190 tshirts with an extra of 30 included and some of drivers told me that they didn't get 1!!!!!

:thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown:

I had trust of Everybody..... Just believe that was an accident, a mistake for raffles products.

Good Evening.

PS: if you don't get your tshirt, please contact me by email only. Thank you

PS2: And for your info the race isn' named "Petit" but "PETITRC Race" ;)

Did 2wd on sat, what a great venue! wish it was closer to home:cry:,hats off to the club, running a meeting of this scale takes a lot of time,I know it's easy to look on the internet and see loads of great indoor meetings world wide but for somewere that only been running 12 months, some people need to remember how many thousands of pounds have been spent.

This said, the total lack of refereeing combined with some realy crap driving after marsheling or a mistake. There seemed to be no one taking charge of the start line or the track with cars every were, there is no point going when your number is called if the last car to go is put in front of yours:cry:.

the track flowed well apart from the big jump, may have been better in 4wd, but for 2wd it was just to steep and narrow, not the incredible, take your breth away track we read about on petit...sorry Nicolas:blush:.

practice on thursday friday:thumbdown:

as for the tee shirts, raffle prizes:mad:,sad to see we have low life scum in our hobby! a great shame

I did think it was a bit strange the way the raffle worked on Saturday relying 100% on trust. I feel the RC crowd is the most honest Ive ever met so its sad to think there are theives about .

Yes, this is an absolute disgrace!! - didn't think RC racing was a hobby for common thieves. Maybe if the people involved took them by accident or mistake they might post them back anonomously to Ardent Receway.
The motors, speedos and batteries were for the Sunday night raffle and not the Saturday raffle.

I just want to Say thanks to all the people who helped at "PETITRC";) 2011
I thought the event was overall a success, Driving standards was generally very good, there is always the odd bad driver who thought an Agricultural race meant driving like a tractor ploughing through a field. But i thought that given the track was flat there was not too many incidents.

I was sorry we had to leave early and miss the prize presentation Sunday but we had a long journey home and was very tired.

The only thing i would criticise was the practice days on Thursday and Friday. I would say no problem to have practice as long as it publicised when the race date was released. It was too late for our guys to arrange time to practice and we found it very difficult getting a set up on the non standard carpet.

I look forward to a 2012 event and hope for more XL T shirts without any team names on as we cant wear ours :(

Oh and Thanks to John for arranging warm weather. it was 20 degrees warmer than our last visit and much more pleasant.

That is disgusting.... The RC community is the most honest I have ever come across. We all leave our expensive equipment in our pit spaces and always trust it will still be there on our return. It has shocked me that thieves are among us.

This was my first big meeting... I thought it was run well in a great location. And I enjoyed every minute (apart from the getting up early part!) The only gripe I have is the practice some others got in beforehand on the new carpet. It would have been nice if everyone had started off on an even keel.

You're right that was the first thing you said to me Jimmy :-), ironically the first thing we had to do was clear dirt out when we moved in :-). Did any of you notice the unit next door? If there is enough interest then the plan would be to rent that unit too and build a dirt track. We already have the pitting space, cafe, goats and "kind of" toilets, we just tap a doorway through and job done. Hosting the PetitRC Race got us on the map in the buggy world, now I want to see the support so I can justify the beans and convince the landlord :-)

a word of advise if you do, ensure you get the right dirt, even if it means a bigger initial outlay.

speak to people like Lee Martin, Tony Truman, these guys have been to the american facilities, have run their own indoor dirt facility and know the deal with how to make tracks.

ensuring you have the right dirt surface will give much more desireability than an 'any old dirt' track!

Can we lay carpet on top of it when its done for the TC's, have 2 carpet tracks then LOL

You have my full support John, lets get it done!!!!!

Question is would the BRCA be interested in holding National events there if its on dirt?

If not should it be indoor astro, would they consider it then?

Would be nice to have a national in guaranteed weather, maybe first or last round in the calendar

Tiverton was an indoor dirt venue (sort of dirt, anyway - more poo) and had nationals and a Euros. So I don't think being indoors is a no-no, it's just got to be good, safe, meet all the rules. Oh and have people vote for it.

Ben Cosgrove

Ah yeah Tiverton I forgot about that place :eh?:

Went there to watch a Euros one year, I remember it was cold and in a big barn.

So John we could be on a winner!!
