View Full Version : Campimg at Saundersfoot WRCA event
As discussed, quite a few of us plan to camp in Saundersfoot on the sat before the wrca event. I was told (correct me if wrong please griff) that Andys site is a family site only so we need to find somewhere to take us rabble!!
As this is the holiday season we may need to pre-book quite soon.
Could anyone who wants to camp or has input on this matter please post here otherwise the next few weeks will pass and it will prob fall apart resulting in a low turnout.

I think you will have to book anywhere down here sharpish as we are already full for aug!
there is a place in milton you could try as that is close or maybe try the tourist board for advice?
Also getting a one night booking for a group could be difficult

No steve it was never official. We need to get some numbers together before we start ringing around as booking in to a camp site this time of year may well require deposits/full payment in advance. Myself and Owen will be going either way(according to the rac route planner its 93 miles and 2hrs drive from newport)
As its on the 8th of august we get moving so WHOS CAMPING?

Only one rc lot enquired about camping, sorry guys. There are plenty of places down here to stay, so get googling:thumbsup:
The drive will be about 1.45 from newport, not bad really. How long did it take to get to coventry the other week steve? I'm sure the trip will be worth it:thumbsup:

Sorry guys but definately NO camping at the track. Two reasons : lack of space and more importantly ongoing issues with our local planning authority who arent over the moon at having us there anyway!

Its not that far Steve.... Ok maybe it is, but Griff and some of the other Saundersfoot people have come over to the East side to support us, least we can do is return the favour ?
Its over 2 hours for me along A & B roads, at least you can hop down the motorway for a fair bit of the journey.... :)
Guys its not far to drive on the day at all. less than 2hrs.... The whole point of this thread was to gauge interest in camping as many of us said we would like to make a weekend out it...About 10 of us were up for it at gnr(remember?) My point is... we only have 3 to 4 weeks to get it sorted...So come on, WHOS CAMPING in glorious saundersfoot?

Yes fair point. Im not having much luck in the search, there are quite a few 'official' sites but they are pricey and dont accept all male parties:thumbdown:
What we need are one of those farmers field type locations, no mod cons just a flat surface so we dont get bad backs after a night under canvas, more importantly so our beers & BBQ dont tip over!
Any Saundersfoot club locals know of anywhere??

Suppose squatting anywhere for the night is out of the question then, i'm up for the camping but with the van I'll just park the fecker anywhere, someones drive a layby the lake close to the track, camping is camping and did't think you had to pay to sleep anywhere.
Carew airfeild is next to the track just crop the lock and we all pile in there.
If you need to pay i'll take money on the gate.

Surely to god ..... Sir Axeman and Lord Reg ... the racing GODS themselves ... should be staying in the local Hilton... paid for by us lesser mortals and wannabe drivers
Is this the way we are treating Racing Royalty these-days ... making them camp .... tut tut ... when i were a lad ....

Guys, I have been ringing around this morning and booking a pitch in saundersfoof this time of year for one night only and needing to pack up early aint going to be easy!! No luck as yet but Expecting some call backs from various sites..Option 2 is an organised convoy!
Right. Not much luck with getting camping pitches this time of year. Myself, the ginger ninja and me bird will opt for the 1hr 45min drive in the morning. As mr Dyna has already said, the saundersfoot guys travel up to us so come on lets make sure we support them in the way we would like to be supported  Il post my departure/eta guestimates a bit closer to the 8th august so come join the convoy! Only vehicles with cb radios and Yorkie bars on dashboards need apply:)

omg, there was a guy with a truck and yorkie bar just on the one show talking about cb radio!!!!!
There is also a travel lodge in st clears or pembroke dock. You could room share at these and then the cost isnt too bad?
