Hi i'm Oscar, and i'm writing you from Spain, so first of all, sorry for my but english, i wish you could understand me ;) ...

We have made a new Club in the north of Spain, in Asturias. We have a small track and we have been racing on this track for a year.

This is the track:

The Timming van:

The Podium:

And the small box:

We are very happy with starting of the club, the races, and the people of the club, but we have a big problem with the track, the road surface is horrible, after 3 races this year, there are some areas with big, big pot-holes especially on the traction exiting curves.

Whe have similar weather conditions than Uk, a lot of rain during nine months of year, so i wonder if some of you can help us to choose some materials to install on our track to keep it on perfect condition to make pur races.

We have installed on some areas of the track astorturff, but it's very expensive here (i don't know if there it's so expensive) but i have seen that you use differents kind of carpets on your tracks (some are yellow, and black...) what kind of carpet are these? and are them more expensive that astroturf? how does them support the weather conditions?

I will be very grateful if some of you could help us with this questions.

Thank you for your help, and all of you are invited to run on our track on your next visit of Spain

You can visit us also on www.tarcc.com (http://www.tarcc.com)

Nice track! I can see how it would be a bit of a mess in the rain though.
Generally clubs here use OLD astro that has been removed from a sporting venue. Occasionally a club will buy some new astroturf, but it's very expensive like you say so most clubs can't afford it.

Thanks Jimmi :D really it's a very funny track.

Used astroturf... umm... and it's fre... umm... interesting!

And what's about the yellow and black carpet like used on CML Raceway? It's seems to be a different type of carpet... (so much expensive than astorturf?)

Best regards

The stuff on the CML track is coloured astroturf - I'm sure lee would be able to tell you more. Lee doesn't use sand on his astro where most tracks do - I think the sand is supposed to keep the fibres together and make the surface less squirmy and not so slippery in the wet. I think

Last happy idea last night, this problem don't let me sleep :( ...

We could get some stand carpet, because next week will finish an importat fair on our city, and we can find a lot of this stand carpet (is a very thin carpet), have you ever use it? i believe that it won't last longer but it could be a solution for this year.

That sounds like the stuff they used on the jumps at the last two Euro Championships. for club racing it would be OK for a while but it tore up quickly with lots of top drivers racing over it for a week.

We have installed on some areas of the track astorturff, but it's very expensive here (i don't know if there it's so expensive) It is very expensive here as well, but the companies who supply the astroturf sometimes have to replace the astroturf at a sports centre, but it costs them money to dispose of the old astroturf. It saves them money to give it away to our clubs, but we usually have to collect it. Ask whoever supplied your astroturf what they do with the old astroturf they replace with new.

Thank you for your help, i couldn't even imagined that we can get the old astroturf free free from sport areas :)

So should i believe that you get the cobbles by the same way?

About the track  you can see two or three laps with my truck here, but it was 2 months ago and the track wasn't finished:

Your English skills are good, most English people only know 'dos grande cerveza por favour' in Espanol, your English is better that 50% of the population of Britain, no apology needed.
