Hey guys,

I'm a bit confused about charging rates. I have a very capable Hyperion Duo charger, and a Turnigy 6s 5000mah lipo (this one: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=10308)

I've always charged my lipo's normally, like if it's 5000mah, that's what I've charged it as. I think this is 1C charging. To fully charge my lipo, it takes around 1.5 hours, which is rather a long time.

On the lipo itself it says it can be charged up to 5C. I assume that means it will be charged 5 times quicker than charging on 1C. I wouldn't feel comfortable charging it that fast, but I would like to charge it at 2C. How would I go about doing this? Would I just need to put the capacity as 10000mah in the charger?

Bit confused here, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Leave the capacity at 5000mah. You just need to up the current to 10A.
Your charger is going to have to be atleast 200W though to be able to get close to the 10A on a 6s lipo.

It's the Hyperion duo charger, I think it can supply 180W on each side.

This is the one:

With 180W available if the battery is charged from empty it will start with a charge current of above 9A and ramp down to about 7A near the end of the CC phase of the charge. Should still charge it in less than an hour easy depending on if the charger has alot to do when balancing the cells.
