New News
It looks like the council have given us permission for camping on the Saturday night, no raves or loud noise, but if all goes well, it should be good for next year too.
Ken Graham is going to be building the rostrum for us.
Good on you & COBRA Steve
Talk about leaving it to the last minute though
So is this an addition to the WRCA Regional calender or is it replacing another round ?

Cobra I feel you have a lot to do if you believe you are ready for regional meeting..
Please take this as constructive comments
Your track is way too rough to have a decent class of racing on it. You need to sort an alternate venue or do some work on the track.
Your race controller needs to pay more attention to what is going on on the track.. ie people still on the main streight putting cars down when the race is starting, Marshells still putting there cells on charge and not at track side, Races being held for the selective few racers to get ready.
Your layout had much to be desired with no marshells on the in-field, and when a car rolled in there no-one knew who's responsibility it was to marshell that car.... result was too much time was wasted....
I have been involved now with three clubs getting ready for a WRCA round and a lot of effort was put in, into making those days a great success,
I can only hope Cobra can do the same... and again please take these comments as constructive..:)

Your observations are mostly correct. So, lets put some things at ease.
For the WRCA, the computer will be put on automatic and this is how it will go.
If your car is not ready, and you will have plenty of warning, once the race starts, the track is closed.
If you are not out to Marshall at the start of the 10s countdown, you WILL get a penalty.
If you have interference, the race will be paused for a short while, if your on the wrong crystal, then the timer will be restarted.
Track, now we are going to find out about using the field the other side of the hedge, if so, none of the track issue's will remain, but that is to be confirmed (we are asking tomorrow).
Current track, the issue was the layout today, with using that straight, it is a no go, so this is what will be done to work around the ruts.
1) Straight will be laid on the carpark, before you all moan, we have carpet that we are bringing from our container, and a transponder bridge to. The straight will also be staged back away from the kerbing so you will have a clear line of site of the cars.
2) the track will be laid to take into consideration the current ruts.
3) Some of the club will be down to try and remove some of the worst issue's and the track will be set out to either avoid them, or so they aren't an issue, or even used to punish taking a wide apex (for you racing gods )
4) track design will also take into consideration the ability for marshalls to get to and retrieve a car.
Any other questions guys?

Sounds like the plan is coming together nicely:thumbsup:
So on the main field right, that means very little bombholes and ruts :pwith just natural undulations and what ever other bumps/jumps/whoops you stick in??!! That should allow for a nice large fast and or technical circuit as you've got a nice blank canvass:drool:

Unfortunately the venue does not have a postcode. If you follow the link from the front page of the COBRA website http://www.swmcrc.co.uk/ you should be ok.
To find the link you need to page down the front page of the website to the picture of the club outside track (not planed to be used for the meeting) and double click the venue address.
Still lacking in emailed entried guys, I don't want them PM'd, entried to cobra.entries@virginmedia.com

Just checked BBC and metcheck and they both give a nice day for tomorrow. Fingers crossed their right.
yes i have look at them but i live 2 hours from cardiff so i would rather hear from someone who is actually there cheers:thumbsup:
I'll be there helping to set up in a couple of hours, I can let you know what it's like then.
As for shop, don't know if one's there or not tomorrow.
At the track now, grass is damp but ground under it is solid so should take a fair bit of rain if it comes.
Weather at the mo is brightening up so cross everything for tomorrow......
No shop tomorrow, bring all the spares you think you'll need and those that you don't!
Right, the ground under foot is solid, it has rained and the grass is wet, but that field dries fast, I don't think you will be desperate for BB greens. Paul Knight is on holidays, so no shops present.
When you arrive tomorrow, any silly business when driving onto the field and you will be asked to go home, as it will ruin it for the club to hold meetings on there in future.
Track will be a nice size

As you come into the carpark, you will see an open gate in the tree's up from the track, through there and left!
The ground is nice and firm, it drains super good there and the breeze dries the grass quickly to!

Great day, thanks to DCM and everyone else from COBRA who helped out - great track, organisation and you even managed to get the weather to stay good
Plus, and i think other clubs should take note ( if its possible to do so), having some hot food on site to buy was spot-on - the bacon roll i had saved me from another lunch of cold sarnies... :D
Thanks guys, I really enjoyed sorting it out, although kick me when I do it again
Got to say, thanks to Ken (and his boss) for supplying the material and goods to build a great rostrum, and for all the guys who came yesterday (Spence, Ian, Dave Zerk, Ken, Vanessa and Tom), and all those who pitched up at some ungodly hour to define the track perimiter, erect the rostrum (Ken!!), lay my track design down and H for sitting there to referee, eat food, drink and put banana skins on me boys head when he was having a nap!
Hot food is just ace, next yeat I may get time to eat some!!
Also, for you guys to, you make the meeting good, didn't have to nag for you guys to marshal, and in all, driving standards were ace to!!
p.s. Reg, Hywel said he would come collect his kiss!!
Top job to the cobra massive!. Yet another awesome day at cobra..This is getting a bit predictable now:p;)
