Nick,

Is that for pitting or sleeping ???
If it's pitting then come in with us lot (Model Images),
I know for the end of season finals there won't be loads of us in there.
The F3's there is only Joe i believe as i am pitting for him!!!

Hey Jon,

I was actually thinking about camping over night but I think i've sorted it now. I spoke to John about pitting with you boys at both and he was fine about it so all sorted on that front.

Thanks mate, see you at Silverstone!

They where ok once you got the hang of it but i only jumped hem 2 then 1 because i would preffer to finish the run that to possibly break it and not finish any runs. I think it will be more front shock towers than anything.

I may have space for sleeping in mine at the F3's Nick (as i may not be using the tent at night), and possibly pitting also if you get stuck.

Ashley if you watched the top 15-20 drivers, no-one was flying the triples they were all taking them as 2 then a 1, it's the quickest way round trust me;).

To be honest the only breakages I saw, were from people not paying attention to the quick guys, trying to clear the triples, but getting it totally wrong.

The track will be on the grass, we probably won't use the single jump or the table top on the far side of the track as we feel it is just too far away.

ashleyb4
21-08-2007, 05:56 PM
Agreed with the table top i think the straight was a bit far away at the weekend often just rubbed along the pipe. I didnt relaly watch the top lads i was to busy fiderling with the car changing things and charging etc. But iloved the hump at the bottom of the straight i only crashed tehre once.

To be honest the only breakages I saw, were from people not paying attention to the quick guys, trying to clear the triples, but getting it totally wrong.Oh well - it must just have been me then.

I cleared them in one almost every time 'cos I could do that consistently. I tried doing "2+1" a few times - and it cost me two rear shock towers. :wtf: :( :eh?:

The landing zone between 2 and 3 just seemed tiny, and I couldn't hit it accurately. Hey, I never claimed to be a top driver...

DaveG28
30-08-2007, 10:16 PM
I didn;t even try all 3 at once, but my driving is still bad enough to have gone through 5, thats right 5, turnbuckles on those jumps in one day of 2wd!

So after the weekends meeting at Silverstone, now for the predictions for the F3/4/5's.....

Can anyone really bet against it being a straight fight between Nick & Stan??

Anyone else have any thoughts??

I think Nick and Stan will take some beating. Is Wayne Collinson going?

My goal is to hopefully make the A both days after my result in Tiverton last year and my improvements in the region this year. But i may revise that when i see the final entry list!!

Yeah I'll be going mate. At the moment im only down to do 2wd but might borrow Craigs 4Wd and compete in both.

My showing at the BRC's was pretty poor. Only managed 7th in the B, just couldnt get to grips with the track. Hoping to make amends at the 3/4/5s.

Entries close tomorrow due to PW departing for WC this week.
Lets go guys you have 24 hours to get an entry to me!

You will be lucky, the company I work for can calibrate them, but theres only a handfull of specialist labs in the country who can UKAS cal them.:D

we have an ambient noise limit of 80 decibels set by the E.A.
of which airports are excempt.
We have a noise meter to check individual Generators.

so if what your saying is right, then the meeting cant commence till after that time then as lots of people need and have to have 240 to charge and solder,so best test gennys early then or i see u getting 100's of problems:eh?:

Mark A
05-09-2007, 10:43 AM
i know we have an early start with a full days racing both days so common sense will allow generators earlier than 9 am, i will be on site all weekend so any problems please fell free to ask myself or Bill ;)

Stan the man did the job again today with TQ and won first and seocnd leg.

then..

Chris Cocker
Andy Griff

Well done to the Coventry club well run meeting track could have been changed a bit more between days.

As for me 2wd was good I qualified I 5 after taking the lead on the firs tlaplead it for sbout 3 1/2 minutes after a silly mistake caught him again but just couldnt get past him.

4wd started well round one was in the G then i moved up to the F for a while but then finally afterwards i had dropped down to H2 :( So bolted some new tyres on to try and win it and i did the most unprofestional thing in the world. And i should have never done it. And i was stupid to do it. And im kiknig myself now.

Lee was 2nd, but had two 10's.

I was happy with qually, going 3rd on the grid, mucked up round 4 which cost me 2nd.

I got hit on the first corner on lap 1 and ended up 6th.
Got clean away in second leg, was clear 2nd with a broken shock tower, luckily i still had the pace to keep it as the ballstud JUST held on.
Got away well in leg 3 but got caught up in 1st places accident and lost too many places.

Even so im really happy with todays result, although i wish i could of got 2nd overall.

Big thanks to my pit bitches Millzy and Si, Millzy got my car really hooked up and suited to my driving style, i probably wouldn't have done half as well without the help.
Thanks to Preddy for the cells, tyres, shock tower etc, really appreciate it mate.
And a general thanks to everyone else for making the weekend really good fun, especially the ppl i pitted with!

Big well done to Coventry and also the BRCA team who controbuted to a great meeting.

In the right hands I think it could win the World Championships :p

No seriously, it felt good for the very first turn of it wheels. What with helping out I didnt realy think to double/triple check everything ready for it maiden outing. So with the slipper loose, it performed very well.

Very happy with the D4's single run today, already showing awesome promise for next season, looks like a long winter of testing ahead.

Congrats to the "Stan the Man" on his double TQ & win weekend.

Mid-West got the job done in quite awesome style, scoring 64 points yesterday and 65 today (129 total) think second place had 262 points total.

Maybe i should put something above the stick so i cant push it so far. Also if you where refering to the final wher ei kept messing it up at the bottom of the straight i think thats as i had brand new tyres on and i was used to the old ones i had on whichhad no grip so it didnt grip role or flip off the track.

Well done to all the organisers and staff that helped at Coventry, the meeting ran extremely smoothly and i thought the Track held up really well, although the grass wore it didn't cut up at all and was still really nice to drive in the last leg!!

Also well done to Mark (Stan) - just couldn't live with you in all honesty, think we were close early on but after round 2 i just couldn't get the car to go any quicker round the track - even without crashing and driving as hard as it would let me you just drove away!

The track should have in theory got slower but you seemed to just get quicker with it which was very frustrating :D :D I tried all sorts but nothing seemed to make it any better, what can i say? Top job though mate, you drove faultless and thoroughly deserved to get one back on me (That makes it 1-1 now you realise)!

Will hope to do a few Nationals next year, so you never know we may end up having a few more races but i'll have to see if i can do any first.....

Well done for 4wd too, sounds like it was another dominating performance - Sorry i couldn't be there.

Hope to see you down at Lee's over the winter (CML Raceway) as he should hopefully be applying for a National!

Take it easy and well done to all again.

Nick.

Man did I watch a lot of laps this weekend! But I can't complain, I got to see some really good racing out there on what was a very consistent and high quality track.

Some very impressive performances... Stan obviously, put everyone to the sword, really impressive stuff mate especially in 2wd with that XXX thing. I have to say you proved me thoroughly wrong and humble pie is a dish I don't enjoy!

Andy Griffiths.... what a move in the 3rd leg of 2wd coming onto the main straight, on the last lap, ducked to the inside and held it round the sweeper, very cool... i had to bite my lip, as an impartial ref should not go shouting GO ON ANDY! :D

Andy Reeves... where oh where did that come from dude? round 4, 2nd! Sparklin'! dissapointed I never actually watched your run, sod's law that is. Very well done.

Thanks to the CMCC club, thanks Jamie and Nick for letting me and Tinners sit in your caravan on fri and sat evening, it was bloody freezing outside! Cheers team Mudfish for lending me cars to use in the guest race and providing me with entertainment whenever I came to visit the tent... although maybe I should be thanking Simpson's XX4 for providing that! ;)

See you through the winter.

Cheers Tom, Really don't know where that round came from. I wasn't sure if i had got the 14 or it was a 13 at the time. There was a couple of times that i nearly throw it away, mainly when i got it up on two wheels at the end of the straight :wtf: not good for the heart. That was probally my only run since i have came back that i did not crash once and all the lap times were 22's and 23's I really don't think i could have gone any quicker.

Wicked weekend all, really enjoyed it. The BRC's and the F345's all had a superb atmosphere about them, far better than any other meeting i've been to this year, i'll definitely be going next year to pit bitch (and get proper hammered!).

Mr Goodall, you'd better do the nationals next year, i want more of that close racing we had at these meetings, we've had some class battles!!!

Jonesy, yes you called, but you made sod all sense for about 2 minutes, then hung up on me. :wtf:

Thanks Jamie for letting us all pit in your awning this weekend, and apologies for the smells coming from some of the guys in the awning, it was inhumane (like our hotel room!). :wtf: :wtf: :eh?: :eh?: :( :( :o

Thanks to Doddy for the loan of the car again (which is now alllllll mineeee!) and the advice, and to Mr Preddy for the spares and setup ideas.

ps - my bet is for Yardy to give up the racing next year, and concentrate on a full time career in refereeing.

Some of the smells in our Tent were along those lines too - problem is i was trapped at the end where the air couldn't escape so occasionally had to make for a quick exit just to get some fresh air :D Hate to think what it would have been like Sunday after everyone was drinking!!

We certainly did have some good races, even those first couple of heats in qualifying were fun, just a shame i couldn't get closer in the finals though. I'll do what i can regarding Nat's but to a certain extent it's out of my control (see the Thumb print now)??? :D

Yeah i can see Yardy doing that more - one thing did make me laugh was when there would be a big crash and i'd hear people moaning and shouting but Yardy just comes out with "ok guys that was unfortunate" - I heard that a lot over the saturday haha ;) You did a top job though mate, especially leaving Stan and i to decide between ourselves - Rd2 was probably the best race we had all day, i kept trying to pull away but it just wasn't happening :)

Stu
20-09-2007, 05:18 PM
Sorry Lee, I ain't got any X6 shots either, were we in the same heat?

Jordan - next time you are messing with the camera have a look at the colour shift function in the white balance section of the menu. If you mess with it you can change the way the camera processes the colours, making pictures look warmer/cooler or colour ranges stand out a bit more. It's a bit like the way a traditional photographer would use colour filters.

The 'L' lense is nice, but when there is plenty of light you should be able to get almost the same results with the standard lense you have. It's really when light is low that the full aperture sharpness of the 'L' lense comes in.

Will you be doing any indoor stuff over the winter - that's a whole new challenge, it's ace.
