Really looking forward to the 2wd regional at 'our place', hope to say hello to plenty of you guys who frequent the forum(s).
No doubt I'll be there at silly o'clock on the Saturday morning on track building duty, just wondered what you would like to see included? Those of you familiar with Bury Metro, would you like me to include the infamous sleeping policemen, the full banked turn in front of race control, the full length of the back straight.........or shall I just surprise you with a swine of a track :D
Pray for better weather than Teesdale (although you guys coped really well)
Rob

Hi Rob,
How about something a bit different, maybe using the whole of the back straight and not the front straight (turning off it somewhere?). Just an idea.
Oh and Rob, make sure to order some sunshine. :sunny:
I think I'd rather have the full back straight in 4wd... since I'm only doing 4wd! Plus, that's the only class I've ever raced in with it like that before...
I'd just like some hot weather please... I'm in desperate need of a tan on parts of me OTHER than my face (Southport sorted me out there!).

The banked corner coming onto the straight scares me. its all a bit quick like! lets slow it down! :)

Chris,
I'm with you that cutting in off the front straight makes for an interesting track (and a bit of a change), but it may give start line issues at a regional - especially in the finals when we would have 10 cars piling into the first turn so soon after the permanent start line.
I'll have a look on ebay for boxes of sunshine too.
Rob
Back straight would be good but proberly better in 4wd.
It's only so I can put my 8x2 in and have some fun again lol

Hi Rob,
For the heats, the usual start grid should be fine as the cars start off staggered, for the finals the start would be on the back straight like it was in the 2003 national there.
But really, I don't mind the track layout, I am just hoping that the sun is out as the track will be good whatever the layout if it is dry. :D

what about using the back stright as the start line instead of usual flag stone starting position lol great mind's and all that chris

As for track layout, I'm happy with anything, but the more technical the better:)
Also another point is, I think to be fair to all drivers, the track must be significantly different for the Sunday. By doing this there can be no unfair advantage gained by those doing two days rather than just the one day.

Agreed john.. and the more technical and slower the better! :) I dont do fast.

If you can arrange to have a 5 mile straight in there somewhere, it would suit my brushless nicely. ;)

RobHatcliffe

Paul
I'll be there at around 7.00am for track building, general setting up etc.
I reckon most folk will arrive 7.45 - 8.00 ish. Don't think anything is set in stone regarding timings, but practice usually starts 8.30am, with racing at around 9.30 ish.

what time does it finish!?
jimmy
25-04-2006, 09:23 PM
9:29 it is then , see you there !
RobHatcliffe
25-04-2006, 09:54 PM
Finish time is a bit hard to predict Paul, too many variables.
I would expect it to finish 5.30 - 6.00 pm approx.
We need to start early as we expect around +80 drivers

Is it deffo 4WD on the Sunday (as I think was suggested earlier in this thread) as my calendar has it down as 4WD on the Saturday.
Anybody?
Also, I haven't been able to log in on the brca-northeast site for some reasonso I've email Brian Hoppps. Can anybody confirm he's the best person to have contacted?
Cheers

Could we have the full banked turn for 2wd, but not for 4wd? It's fast already in 2wd but you carry so much speed in 4wd and being banked the slightest touch on the steering sends you a foot off line and into the concrete slabs :o
At the 2004 national the track was run as Richard suggests, turning 180 deg right on the exit to the banking. It was a very fresh layout.
On another tack, the track can be run the opposite way round. The banked corner is awesome in this format, the car squats down into the exit giving a 'slingshot' out. It's very, very rare that the club drivers will run that way round, I'm not sure if it's due to the loss of some of the 'local-knoledge' advantage. Last time I was there when this was done one of the top club drivers packed up and went home, unhappy that it was the 'wrong way round'.
This may be ideal for Saturday when many of the local drivers will be in the non-region part of the meeting.

.......It was a very fresh layout.........
Stu, you turning gay on us? :D
Will you and Dammo be camping or is it too close to home? :(
G, last year when I seen you in that McFlurry bra it reminded me that gay is defo not me, I rekon it'd have turned Julian Clary straight.
Mr W's got a new gay car, you may have seen the pics.

Just doing 4WD dude. I'll be doing all 4WD regionals, and some 2WD thrown in, but no full weekenders.

good weekend all?
i had an okish day in 2wd, my car was abit of a nightmare to drive. it just didnt seem to like the sand  tried lots of different set up changes, the car had loads of dodgy oversteer moments on the sand, went to the extreme and put a new set of rear boots on for my last shot and had massive understeer
put some oldish yellows on for the final on slim rims and it seemed to be slightly better. nice race with stu also, was it the xx you was running? :D
stripped the car today and find the servo post has cracked, so im assumeing the servo could have been moving around a little bit mid run, which could explain the randomness. and a slightly bent rear lunsford turnbuckle  either of which i didnt notice during the day as it was only minor.
hoping i can get my car race ready for the bury NW round.
howd 4wd go today?

I had an excellent day both days, I missed out on the B but still got a C2 in 2wd which im happy with all things considered.
My b4 was amazing, I liked it so much I ran it in 4wd also, it was easily as fast as most of the 4wd cars when It was dry, shame it rained as I had to use 4wd after round 3.
The tracks both days were really good.

Jimmy, Hats off to you on the photo's mate!!!
The pictures with my car in them all show exactly what happened in my final, the first corner where Jim D's car went flying off to the left! I lead for about 4 laps and then my nerves set in resulting in shaky leg syndrome! Then battling with Andy Fox to try and keep second place, it looks as though there is just one stange car going through that corner.
What a brilliant A Final 4WD, even though I was marshalling I managed to watch it unfolding, it has to be said that the quality in this region (North) is right up there, well done Dan, no longer the Tangerine man!
Thanks for putting those pics on:D

Good pics as always Jimmy :)
I had a good time in qualifying both days, the B4 was amazing by the end of the day. I tried some new stuff on the BJ that worked really well in the dry, but not quite fast enough to catch that pesky Bradders bloke :p
Finals were a different story front of the grid to the back on the first corner both days, wasn't too impressed with some of the 'overtaking' moves attempted in the first corner
I wish I could have joined in with the 4wd battle, sounded good from everyone watching :)
That's (http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/bury290406/imagepages/bury2wd09.html) the line Tom :D
Cockerill
30-04-2006, 10:21 PM
That line is dialled :D
Where are the other 3 cars becasue you were first into the corner and I was last in so three cars are missing.
Snee's clearly found the gap!
At least I had a better 4wd final
Richard Lowe
30-04-2006, 10:30 PM
They must have taken your patented 'bush/fence' line :D
Snee certainly found a gap that wasn't there, although there was plenty of room after he binned me

Thanks for the setup help btw, went to the 30wt in the front tpday in the b4 and it was just great in the dry..

Had a good day 2wd'in saturday, although at end of day my face was the same colour as jimmy's hair, The sun was hot. Shame about weather for 4wd on sunday though. :-P
How come I managed to miss the sun... grrr. Come on Sun, all I want is for you to be out long enough to bleach my hair out, is that so much to ask?

Andy Fox seems pleased with his 'Irish Nights', maybe it's the hat?

Oh how we laughed in our tent that night! :D
No wonder he looks happy, he didn't buy it, I did! :o :o Tight get! :(
I've since modified the hat, and its now bigger and better, but we didn't get to see it worn on the Sunday.

Oh how we laughed in our tent that night! :D

Its only £2.50 or summit!!
G, it may be bigger & better now, but, nobody'll wear it with more pride than Andy did that night.
Rob, Arslam should have worn it butt he didn't run the final.
Em, £2.50 well spent I think. Andy was so entertaining that £10 would have been a fair price.

Brilliant photos again, Jimmy. Nothing less than we expect though, hey??
Really enjoyed myself on the 4WD, except for my start on pole in the E final - found myself drive off to the right and almost back towards the banked corner. oops!! (Found it to be 3 wheel drive and my over excitedness to get off the line to be the problem.) But thoroughly enjoyable day (I'm ignoring any rain).
I also wanted to add to the 4WD A Final posts - it was brilliant! Great to watch and more of that please!
