Hello and errr help?

Hello all,

I came and had a look a few weeks ago and the good news is I have invested in a second hand B4 Factory Team so that I can join in next time :)

The bad news is I have been out of buggies for over 20 years so I could do with a little advise on basic setup. I'll be running Lipo and a Novak GTB / 10.5ss combo that I have spare from my Touring car so any advise on setup and suitable springs and damper pistons / fluid etc. greatly appreciated.

I have read the posts re:tyres so will upgrade at some point but to start with I have conespikes front / yellow mini spikes rear.

All being well I should have the car together for Sunday so weather willing I will be there.

hi fella ...there is a really good guide on here if you look in the torch setup section ..its really handy ..failing that ..you can look in the team associated section on oople ...bound to be usefull tips in there

Thanks for the pointers, I have read quite a bit on oople etc. and hopefully this will come in handy once I have actually driven the car and start to tackle specific issues. The motivation for my question was just to get a reasonable starting point for the Titchfield track as there are clearly quite a few B4's racing otherwise I'll run the car as it is and work from there.

Haven't run my B4 for a while, but the setup i found worked was

Front

35wt associated oil with no 2 pistons and silver springs, inner on wishbones middle on tower. 30 deg caster blocks with staggered rib tyres. Weight over front where possible

Rear

30wt associated oil with no 1 pistons and green springs, inner on wishbones and middle on tower. Blue Mini spike tyres, maybe with outside row cut off.

I am not the quickest with a B4 but i found this setup quite easy to drive and was able to hold my own :) I did notice some people use green front springs and silver rear which i was going to try next.

I should be there Sunday, bring your car over and I have a once over to double check it is set up to a usual B4 set up, Dave set up advise is pretty sound, but if Matt Haskell is there he had a good set up as well.

Thank you for the advise. The driving learning curve is bound to be pretty steep so it's nice to know if the car is at least in the right ball park.

The car currently has:

Front - 35wt, No2?, Blue springs
Rear - 25wt, No1?, Silver springs

I have 30wt oil I can put in but it looks like some softer spring options are probably worth while. Luckily AE parts are pretty cheap :)

The car currently has 30 degree castor blocks fitted but also came with the 25 degree option so should be OK.

Hi NTS,

Generally speaking, TORCH is a pretty rutty track, and the jumps aren't too big, so most people prefer softish setups. I like mine extremely soft - last week I finally settled on no1 pistons, 25wt oil all round, with brown springs on the front and black on the rear, and it ran really nicely. Most people seem to run slightly harder, tending towards 30wt oil/green springs, maybe no2 pistons on the front.
