I'm looking at getting some new Procat sideplates laser cut out of 1.5mm stainless steel. I'll end up with quite a few spares so I wanted to guage interest and find out who would also want some. The cost per pair might be about £13 plus postage depending on quantities. Please PM or email me.
These are the templates I'm working from. Do these also fit previous Cats?

The XLS had the same side plates - would be surprised if the SWB didn't.
I'd be interested in a set... will PM.

I wonder does anyone know what the recommended pilot hole diameter is for these little No.2 self-tapping screws? I can measure off the plates I've got but I was curious what is recommended for aluminium? Is there a chart online somewhere?

I'll be going to the sheet metal co. on Monday. Luckily they've got one of the stronger aluminium alloys in stock. The plates will be left natural like the kit items. I'm getting all the details sorted so they'll be perfect. Price looks like £13 a set plus postage. Please let me know if you want a set as I'll only do one batch. Luke

Update: got the drawings from Fibre-Lyte! The metal fab. co. are sending me a sample of the material so I can check out the finish and try the self tap screws before we go ahead. THE PLATES WILL HAVE BOTH HOLES AT THE REAR SO THEY WILL FIT THE SWB AS WELL AS THE XLS AND PROCAT.

Update: Fibre-Lyte's drawings are perfect. I've given them to the laser cutters and put down the deposit. THE PLATES WILL BE CLEAR ANODISED. I've also sourced some hex head self-tapping screws like the ones in the kit. I'll supply these and an allen key with each set. You can use these or the original screws. I've checked them in a off-cut of alloy and both fit. However the new ones are high tensile and 'tap' more easily.

I just found out that a 0.050" driver is better for those screws even though it said 1.3mm on the suppliers' website.

The 1.3mm is OK but I've found it can strip the hex in the screw if tightened too much. Hope this helps.
Working on some new modifications e.g. plastic belt cover washers and underchassis weights. Don't touch that dial...
