Forgive me Im new to the grading system, But how come the grades are not evenly split. ie 6 F2s 6 F3s 6 F4s 6 F5s. and if 72 drivers have entered the competition and only 23 have scored 4 round points, the grades come out of the 23.

Wooooo, calm down, calm down....
I suggest you read your BRCA rule book, or look on the BRCA site, it's all explained on there.

Here you go, your welcome ;)
21. LICENCE GRADES
The BRCA 1/10th Off Road Section will award driver licence grades as detailed below.
N.B. Where any percentage calculation results in a fraction, then the result will be rounded-up to the next whole number.
21.1 Demotion by one grade is automatic if the driver has failed to re-qualify for the same or higher licence grade in the current year.
21.2 Grades gained from the National Championships will take priority over grades from the Regional Championships.
21.3 Licence grades are calculated using the championship positions at the end of the National and Regional Series each year. All demotions and promotions will be effective from the 1st January of the following year and are maintained throughout that year. (e.g. a driver qualifying for an F2 licence from results in 2005 will be awarded that grade on 1st January 2006 and will remain an F2 for the whole of 2006).
21.4.1 From the NATIONAL SERIES:-
F1 and F2 licence grades will be allocated on a percentage basis as follows: the number of drivers that satisfy the points scoring requirements of the National Series will be used as the base figure.
FORMULA 1 – The top 33% of the base figure is used against the final series’ results to determine the F1 drivers. (2WD and 4WD separately)
FORMULA 2 – The next 17% of the base figure is used against the final series’ results to determine the F2 drivers. (2WD and 4WD separately)
21.4.2 From the REGIONAL SERIES:-
Regional formulae will be allocated on a percentage basis as follows: the number of drivers that satisfy the point scoring requirements for a Region’s particular Series will be used as the base figure. Any drivers included in this base figure, that have gained their licence from the National Series of the current year (F1, F2 and demoted F1) will be subtracted from the base figure to give an adjusted base figure on which the calculations will be based. It follows that Regional licence grades can only be established when the results of the National Championship are finalised.
FORMULA 2 - The top 20% of the adjusted base figure is used against the final series’ results to determine the F2 drivers. (2WD and 4WD)
FORMULA 3 - The next 30% of the adjusted base figure is used against the final series’ results to determine the F3 drivers. (2WD and 4WD)
FORMULA 4 - The next 30% of the adjusted base figure is used against the final series’ results to determine the F4 drivers. (2WD and 4WD)
FORMULA 5 - The final 20% of the adjusted base figure is used against the final series’ results to determine the F5 drivers (2WD and 4WD).
21.4.3 Within BRCA CLUBS:-
FORMULA 5- This licence grade may be awarded to any competent driver at the discretion of the club officials.

So if I understand this correctly you have to complete 4 scoring rounds to get an F grade?
Thanks

Yes. you need to complete 4 out of 6 to be graded for the next year.

That's not how I understand it.
Once you've worked out all the calculations and percentages, to give you the number of F2's etc.. You then basically start at the top of the championship table and work down from there, making sure you exclude any driver that has gained their F1, F2 or demoted F1 from the 2007 Nationals.
So even a driver that has only completed 3 rounds, but say made the A at all 3 can still get a license.

Phil's right, the percentages are worked out on the number that have done the minimum number of rounds, and then used on the whole results.

As I read it all drivers who don’t complete the minimum rounds (in this case it was 4 from 6 to count) get taken out of the base figure even if they finish higher than someone who as done all the rounds. So a “F3” would be demoted to “F4. All drivers not completing the minimum requirement would either go done a grade or graded as “F5”. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Phil is right.
Stu Mahon, with 3 scores, was in 23rd place.
Had he not allready been F1 then he would have gained F5.
As he is taken out of the calculation already it makes no difference to the actual results however.

Please correct me if I am wrong.
It's 'series results' not 'base figure'. The series results are the championship table at the end of the series, no matter how many rounds the people have done.
If it was how you said it would read:
FORMULA 2 - The top 20% of the adjusted base figure is used against the adjusted base figure to determine the F2 drivers. (2WD and 4WD)...... or something like that......
