Just a thought at the mo', but what about it ?? would be ace huh ? I'm thinking ... BIG X6
8th nitro seems less popular now, but peeps still like to play with BIG buggies and we have oodles of cheap electric options available and loads of cheap 8th buggies ready to convert .....
I've got a Losi 8ight that's screaming out to be converted... but it needs a gearbox ...
So what would work ? maybe something from a Savage or an E-maxx ??
Anyone got any ideas for this ??
Something like an Rc version of this

I've been thinking 8th scale 2wd will definitely arrive once nitro 8th dies out in a couple/few years but the time is not yet!. Might as well wait for the kits?

Anyone that lived through 10th scale electric dying out in the early 90s knows nitro is done for. Whatever is faster and easier ends up the dominate class. That right now is electric, I think 8th scale electric and 10th can live together but it wont leave any room for 8th nitro, You watch and see :) 3 years and nitro will be finished and it wont even be the smoke noise and fumes that does it

Im shocked really. Are we talking racing or bashing here?
Everything I hear from the Rallycross side of racing is that numbers are up every year, more and more cars are being released every year and that things are ticking along sweet as a sweet thing.
I would be so bold as to say that the UK leads the world in terms of indoor nitro racing with the NEO race, and we do have some of the best racers in the world with Bloomers, Neil and Pidge.
If nitro rallycross dies in 3 years I for one will be gutted, even as an outsider who doesnt race RX anymore.

The clubmans rallycross nationals was dropped this or last year because of low numbers.
Burlescombe in Devon has closed for the same reason I believe ....
Anyway, nitro smells and is way too noisy for me
Electric is the future
and I do like the idea of a proper tough 8th 2wd car, not like that flimsy Kyosho thing :p
New Rail form XTM is pretty cool, but is 4wd .....

At national level I can see your angle.... averaging about 100 in 8th and 115 in 10th. club level.... now thats where you need to be looking. 10th Regional events that i have attended in the mid south are around 40-50. 8th club race is about 70 minimum with the slough SRS regional being 130 plus.
Racers in 8th are starting to not want to travel so much. local events are becoming more popular. in 10th only nationals and one off events are full.
Looking at world wide... 2009 10th worlds, what was it 17? 2010 8th will be 150 no problem. i would even say if a 8th worlds was to be run in SA it would be full.
Back on topic and the point of my post.... 2wd 8th has been in existence for many years. there used to be a 2wd BRCA championship and a EFRA euros. France still runs a 2WD class and it is very popular with some great (and odd) looking home made cars.

Yes a 1/8th 2wd electric B4 / CR2/ X6 style would be cool. But would it handle like its little brothers ?. The 1/8's i have driven have the handling of a bus and none of agility of the 1/10 cars, which is a shame. Would a 2wd be similar?.
I guess you would end up with one of these ? - http://www.jconcepts.net/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=286

TBH I don't know for sure, but our 16th mid conversion handles a lot like its 10th cousin so I don't see why a 8th version would be much different .... just a bit tougher and hopefully much faster
16th version, could 8th be the same ?

Hi i thought i'l show you a few pic's of my mid dual motor 2wd 1/8 buggy/truggy
The only issue that 8th has, is it's noise, it is what attracts people to it, but also restricts it's venue's.

Not mid-motored, but should be easy enough to fix if you're of the mind. :D

Speaking to Scotty at the euros he says nitro is going to be banned in california for environmental issues... I'd say that's its fate in time...

hi,
SC is now more popular than Truck, and closer 1/8 than 1/10...
DB like Kyosho's is a good alternativ also.
why don't mix them to have some kind of "big foot" mains, staying in 1/10th scale!?
my SC is now a Truck, to race in France this year, 450mm long :
http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/151/l_17a92e225534406586c765312932c1d7.jpg
but before i've customed it in 'DB' (a 1/8 2WD buggy at least!) :
http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/133/l_acc26e292dfc4a3f83071de81a7e9176.jpg
best on track than my others versions (SC & Truck)
so, i think the mix is the best :
people can choose what's prefered (truck, SC, DB) and it could be a very popular way to be, indeed?
specials rules can be create for size specifications...
p.s: sorry for mistakes, i'm french... i speak english like a spanish cow :D
