Is the above mentioned kit worth getting? How does it improve the car? Any issues with fitting?

You'e a real talker you are :D :p

Seriously, I am struggling to find out what exactly this upgrade does for the car's handling and if it's suited to some tracks more than others? Info seems very hard to find and for a Ģ65 upgrade it shouldn't be that hard! :o

It shortens the rear arms but has a wider hub. This will put more pressure on the rear wheels and increase traction. It also uses longer shock shafts with the sweet RB5 shock cartridges.

Lots of info on it here: http://rctech.net/forum/showthread.php?t=85386&page=120 (around that page area)

i'm hoping kyosho will come out with a "worlds" upgrade kit which encompasses all upgrades and changes to the car rather than buying in bits and pieces. fingers crossed.

I am tempted buying the middle conversion, since my local track isn't that very big and got many tight turns. In theory the car should handle a bit better with a shorter wheelbase...?

The law upgrade is now included with the zx5 kits anyway. the shock update is worth its weight, as it spaces the o rings furthur apart keeping the shaft straighter and stopping leaks.

the rear end modification allows you to run harder spring rates for the same bump handling, i think it makes the car sharper

Excellent, thanks guys. Picked it up this morning and will fit tonight. Hopefully my shocks will stop leaking after this install

i tested the law34 kit for a few months, just changed back to original setup and honestly can't tell the difference.

i've used Pro4nuts ZX5 with the kit on and i too can't really tell the difference. I still run an original kit standard ZX5. Basically if you are happy with the way the car handles then don't change it, if you aren't happy with it then try it.

The shock upgrade is worth getting though as it improves the shocks and reduces leaks.

Well I already bought it so might as well fit it.

It's a new car I am building up so has never been run before. Will be interesting to see how different it is from the previous car if at all.

I am changing quite a lot about the setup from the first car that I am expecting a totally different car.

Original car was ZX-5 with:
Mamba Max 7700 brushless
Hitec redio
Hitec 5645 servo

New car is ZX-5 with:
LAW34 kit
Novak GTB/6.5 brushless
KO/Spektrum
Futaba 9550
Carbide diff balls

Other than that both cars had titanium screws, Atomic towers and top deck, etc.

Is this kit now included in ALL zx-5 kit's or just the UK ones?

It seems the LAW34 upgrade is only included in the 'UK Special' kit.

BTW - as said above - buying the LAW34 upgrade is worth it for the upgraded shock bottoms alone! They are absolutely fantastic and totally changes the quality of the suspension by supporting the slightly longer shafts so they have zero sideways movement (probably the biggest reason for the leaks in the old style shock bottoms even with the X o-rings). I've not reused the x o-rings as the LAW34 kit comes with some tight fitting orange o-rings and I've slimed them up so hopefully leaks will be a thing of the past and consistent suspension will be a thing going forward :D

Great thanks for confirming this, just need to decice whether to take the plunge and get a ZX-5 now or wait for the rumoured Worlds version ;)

Anybody know if it is possible to get only the rear suspension arms from the LAW34 kit? I managed to break one, and I found out that they're quite different from the stock arms.

yes, not sure of the part number, but they are called rear arms for middle conversion or something similar.

try microtech, they had them.

Hmmm, I bought a used ZX-5 with KMC chassis conversion. I also just bought a RB-5 from someone else, the guy said he put the wide conversion on the rear (ZX-5 hubs, cvd's, & arms) Looking at the 2 last night, here is what I have. The rear arms on the ZX-5 have the 2 shock mount holes. The rear arms on the RB-5 have 3 shock mount holes. I have a spare set of F & R a-arms for the ZX-5, & the rear one has 3 shock mount holes. Was the rear mid conversion already done on the ZX-5?

Black driveshafts on the ZX5 mean Kit arms with 2 holes, silver shafts mean law34 kit fitted, and as for the RB5 Silver shafts = kit two hole arms(narrow) and black shafts mean LA243(mid arms) are fitted (3 hole) HTH.

So the spare (3 hole) rear arm won't work on my ZX-5, but will work on my RB-5? My RB-5 has the black shafts & ZX-5 rear hubs. Next question, Can I just use the silver shafts on my ZX-5, & run the 3 hole rear arms? That way both buggies have the same rear arms, or do I need other parts? Sorry so many questions.

Yes you can but you must buy a set of the newer type rear hubs same as you have on the rear of the rb5

one word of warning is that you must check that you have the right length shock shafts as the kit zx5 ones are too short. also check what has been done to the rear of the rb5 it really must have the longer shock shafts fitted as the kit ones are too short.

I have used the uppgrade kit a couple of weeks now and broke my rearhub yesterday. Because I didnīt have a spare I had to switch to the old hubs, shafts and so on. (I didnīt change the shock-shafts)

Its a world of difference, for the better! The car turns in much more nicely, and when pulling the trigger it comes around just perfect without either under or oversteer. With the law 34 kit it did feel a bit more stable on the straights but very understeered under power.

For the record, It was a pretty tight carpet indoor-track so the law34 can mabey bee good on bigger outdoor tracks.

Just my two cents
