1st shell not sure what to do!

Ok just ordered my b4 jc concepts shell and want a proper job doing with it!

Im worried ill hash it up cutting it, and want it to look nice! Clear wing with a nice paint job that looks the part even if its just one bright colour

Who is relativley cheap but does a great job with paints that wont mark easily?

Or shall i give it ago myself?

if its one colour you want then i would do it your self,other than that have a good look at all the art work on here:thumbsup:

as for painters, find one you like the style of and go with 'em. price should come second to that really.

Another easy question.
I'm going to attempt my first muti coloured shell and just need some confirmation on which sequence to spray.

I'm doing a blue, orange and white scheme.

I think I should spray the blue first, then orange and finally white. Is this correct?

layout, colors and types of colors/paints will decide in which order you spray them but generally yes, dark to light.

As Jon says - dark to light is best if poss but if not, backing a light colour with Silver can prevent a darker colour from bleeding through.

Backing colours can really affect the finished colour - especially when using flips or candies and fluoros - save the lexan off cuts from when you cut out your shell to try out things before you lay down the paint in all seriousness on the shell.

The most important thing is to clean the shell properly.
Use washing up liquid and give it a really good clean.
Then rinse it out with warm water.
Then a gentle wipe with motor cleaner to remove any left over soap (I use a microfibre cloth from the pound shop)

If you dont clean properly the paint will fall off much more easily.

Invest in a pair of proper lexan scissors fastrax do some they are around £3 they are cuved to help you cut more neatly, other than that take your time and if you have any rough edges sand them down ,

Well i recieved the jc concept shell today from america so decided to pop up to the shop for paints and scissors

Painted shell metallic purple which looks nice and the cutting was ok apart from up the front it was very fiddly!

Painted the large wing pearl white and the smaller one left clear!

Apart from the odd bit of poor cutting tge only problem i have is that when i removed the window masks perhaps to soon all the sticky glue stayed on the shell and now all the windows look a mess!

Any ideas how to remove this properly as nail polish remover hasnt worked!

Will try upload pics of my first shell effort!

nail polish remover is abit risky as it contains acetone which in certain volumes can cloud the lexan.

first port of call with any tape residue normally should be another bit of tape or the same vinyl that was used. stick or dab it on the residue to try and remove it.
