7 of us entered for this at the moment, try and get in for this if you can. Was awesome last year. Paddy wagons are ready to roll. We should probably bring 2 at this stage but there's no problem getting 3 if we need them!!!!

HOTEL & TRAVEL INFO

Hi All,
I know it's months away, but Xmas will rattle in quickly followed by panic unless info is passed around now.

TRAVEL:
At the moment there are 7 drivers going (+ Dave Bolger I expect). It has been proposed that a camper van is taken along with my Xantia (any other suggestions welcome) and maybe split everyone up so that it costs everyone the same. Ferry out at 8am from Dublin Port on Friday 14th Jan. You can expect to be at the race track at 3.30pm. There are two options regarding coming back. Leave on Sunday for the night ferry or stay another night, do the post-mortum over a beer or two, and come back at a leisurely pace on Monday afternoon - home for about 6 o'clock in the evening. Please make you preference known asap.

HOTELS:
Option 1, There is a Travelodge Express that is cheap but not cheerful. About 15 euro a night per person (2 sharing), but you really do only get what you pay for! Only food is from Vending machine etc. Be warned.
Option 2, is my preference, The Hilton at East Midlands Airport. About 40 euro a night per person (2 sharing), but there is a restaurant, bar etc. and it's generally more civilised.
Anyone wishing to avail of the Travelodge - it's no problem collecting you each morning on the way to the track.

BOOKINGS:
Ferries: I get a 10% discount with Stenaline - so I'll work out a price and come back to everyone based on a 8 persons spread between a camper and car.
Hotel: I suggest that everyone gets into groups of 2 and books their own hotel based on their preference between Hilton/ Travelodge / Other etc. The hotels will need to be booked very soon!!!!

More info later :)

I just had a look at ferries. Camper + Xantia + 8 people will cost only
80 euro a head return!!! Can anyone do cheaper?

we will be converting the Raceway into a 480sq.mtr off-road multisurface buggy track. We will paint a track layout on the wooden floor and mix in grit to give a bit of grip in areas, then lay a combination of astro turf and carpet with smooth wooden jumps to simulate jumps seen on outdoor tracks - all-in-all 4 different types of surface.

Have changed your preference to Premier Inn above.

As I said in my earlier post, it's probably best to get into groups of 2 and book independently - saves any messing.
I'm happy to do the rounds in the Xantia to both/all the hotels and collect everyone each morning.

Hi all, this is probably the best plan - any other suggestions?
Ferries (Camper or van + Car) + 8 people + diesel for both works out at about 110 euro each

I can get a van F.O.C, but it will only take 3 passengers - so we would need a biggish car to take the remaining 5 passengers. A Camper would sort this problem as it takes 6, but it may add to the cost.

One final option is to take John's van and two other cars - but brings individual cost up to about 140 euro each.

Mugenextreme
15-11-2010, 10:09 PM
Can i make a alternative option.

Use the van and send all the gear plus 3 people on the boat.
The rest flight. Rent a people carrier . No worries about how to get people to the venue and stuff like that.

Flight to east midlands via ryanair(2 flights a day morning and evening 7 days a week) and Car rental for the likes of a ford galaxy between 6 works out at around 80-85euro if booked now. Say hand over a few quid to sub bringing the gear in the van and to even the cost for all.

ravens
15-11-2010, 10:31 PM
Im sorry to hijack your thread, but where do you rent a galaxy for 85euro?
I've payed 100euros (3day rent) for a VW golf at London Luton europcar, but im in time to cancel.
If you know a cheaper rent a car let me know.

Mugenextreme
15-11-2010, 11:53 PM
Raven, price is the cost per person for car rental for a people carrier type plus flights. Car is something around 250 depending on the cover and extras for 4 days.

Legacy555

To help work this out - here is the individual costs of everything,

Ferry - Car + 1 - 100 euro each way
Ferry - Van + 1 - 140 euro each way
Ferry - Camper + 1 - 130 euro each way
Ferry - Additional passengers - 9 euro each way per person

Flight - to Birmingham - 48 euro each return if booked now
Car hire - 80-85 euro per person

Diesel - Hire Car - 50 Euro
Diesel - Van - 100 euro return
Diesel - Car - 80 euro return

MiCk B.
17-11-2010, 11:43 AM
Here's what I'm working out the total cost for driving, 3 in the van and 5 in a car. With the total cost split evenly.

Cost per person, €91.50, see attached for calculation, feel free to check the figures.

Ian is hoping to have a big cumfy Mercedes to take 5 people.
I will have a big van to take all of the gear and 3 people.

Can everybody give me 100 euros as soon as possible? and I will sort out the difference as soon as everything is paid for - hopefully I'm refunding everyone with a few quid.

I have to collect the van from Drogheda on Thursday after work, so I won't be in the Naul till about 6.30 or so. Mick Bolger is going home after work to collect gear, so he will be later than normal also.

I'll be there till about 8pm, incase anyone wants time to run a car.

Please bring everything that you want to take to the event with you on Thursday night so that we can pack it neatly into the van.

What a fantastic weekend!!! All the racers did team Ireland proud!! Great performances from all and a marked improvement on last year - especially from Ian Hunter - Durango looked great all of Sunday - his result doesn't match his performance!!. High qualifying from Mick and Will showed that we are getting there!!! May it continue!

Tony K won his final from 10th on the grid.

I'd say drive of the team.

Even after all the issues with inference and glue related madness........

what was the ufo final???

Don't know what it actually means, but unidentified flying object sounds about right....... especially Hupo's "through the roof" attempt.

Hi Lads,

Fair play to everybody on the Irish team, you did us proud:thumbsup:

I looked at a few of the heats & one of the finals live, it almost felt like I was there.

Best bit was Will's description of the 'Wall of Death' very funny :D:D

You're not the only one - Moto Arena is overdue a pilgrimage in my case...

Who had the Durango, and how many entrants were there in each class?

Gave up on the Cat then?

Good result, guys - I've heard the standard is very high at the Petit. Perhaps I'll get a chance to try avoiding the wooden spoon...

The preparation the Irish Team put into the Petit race was fantastic. It's great to see top class athletes honing their skills, minds & bodies to ensure they are in tip top condition to conduct battle on the track.

This one picture just sums up the hard core commitment the Irish Team has: http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/petit2011/2wd/gallery/DSC_4202.html
