Who from the TORCH members would like to see TORCH hold a regional event?
If people vote yes they must realise a lot needs to be done. I would love it to happen and hope people would rise to the challenge in making TORCH a premier club on the South Coast. Equally I don't want it to break us.

I have voted YES. Not sure how you think it would break the club as a slightly longer and BRCA width track would also improve weekly racing.
I'm happy to help anyway I can.

All in favour of a regional at TORCH. It would need a lot of work by club members to make the track more 10 car friendly and a lot more pitting and parking space.
With respect to the track I believe a regional track layout must not be the same as a club layout used for the previous 7 days. i.e the layout should be a changeable one.
As Sam, i'd be more than happy to help out with digging and relaying, assuming the forward vision of the club would be to encompass the BRCA rules in respect of track design (length and width).
Having run a club for many years and run regional series with a good deal of success I feel that even if the club doesn't make hundreds of pounds from an event it's all about good exposure. Big meetings (run well) gives you much kudos in racing circles and the good vibe gets spread around.
It took me and Simon six months of off road racing before we knew you were our most local club!
At the end of the day it comes down to a lot of hard work and the reward is 40 or so drivers having a good day out, (some will even thank you!) and spreading the word that TORCH is in existence and a great place to race.
Go for a regional!

The South has so few tracks, a regional at TORCH would be fantastic for the club.
Pitting space would need to be sorted out and much more space provided. Even on a Summer Series day we struggle for pit space.
The commitee needs to decide and soon when the track will get re-done.

The key to this is obviously help with getting the track sorted and ready.
Voted yes but think we need to be realistic about when we think we will be ready - if we commit ourselves too early we will end up falling on our faces when we run out of time and either cancel at the last minute or put on a poor show.
There is a lot to be done and we all have other commitments outside racing. I know a few people have obviously been very generous with their time as can be seen from the improvements already seen but I cannot commit to a lot of time so would not want to set a demanding timeframe and expect others to do all the work. Also need volunteers to give up racing that weekend and run the show - race control, scrutineers, ref (??) etc. We unfortunately do not have a lot of dads hanging around to help out.
I don't, however, see how working towards have the track and facilities to hold a regional can hurt us as any improvements will improve club racing and only attract more racers.

Yep, top of the list is the track, a BRCA spec track is what we all want to race on.
Here's the rules:
14. THE TRACK
14.1 Safety procedures as detailed in General Rules 6, 8 & 9 must be adopted.
The rostrum and steps must be of sound construction. The design of steps should conform to recognised
dimensions. Guard rails of suitable strength and position must be in place.
14.2 Tracks will be laid out so that there are no hidden areas when viewed from the driver’s rostrum area.
14.3 Track markings must be placed to define the track lay-out and to minimise any corner cutting.
14.4 Tyres will not be used to define the track at BRCA National and Regional Sanctioned events.
14.5 At all National format events outdoors, tracks will be a minimum of 3 metres wide and minimum 130
metres in length.
14.6 At Sanctioned events, other than Nationals, tracks must be a minimum of 2.4 metres wide.
14.7 The straight for starting finals, will be a minimum of 20 metres long, with no obstructions, including any
form of jump, sudden rise or fall.
14.8 Start and finish lines must be marked. A ‘penalty line’ must be marked 2 metres in front of and parallel
with the qualifying start line.
14.9 All tracks will have a designated ‘pull-off’ area for cars that have completed a race.
14.10 At all National events, there will be a designated ‘stop go’ penalty area.
14.11 All finals will have staggered grid starts at 2 metre intervals and two rows of cars. The top qualifier will
choose which side of the grid they wish to start from.
14.12 The track will be closed to any kind of use, whether for race events or practice, by anyone, including
the club’s own members, for the whole of the seven day period immediately prior to the commencement of a
National event.

i say yes go for it but theres alot of work to be done to the track im up for helping. havent been with the club for long and lots of club members have different views on the track some say leave it alone as all the bumps make it better and some say rip it up and start again all that worries me is not enough members turning up to do the track and we end up not raceing for weeks and members going else where to race so i think it all depends on people haveing the time to do the track hope it happens would be good for the club.

I voted yes, i will be available over the winter on saturdays etc, so work could be done for next year, there needs to be a plan and schedule of work, as we all know things don't go to plan and we don't want it to be nearly finished forever.

I don't know where the region boundaries lie, but I'm guessing TORCH would be South East - I think Mid-South is really for between midlands and south?

I think from memory you do fall into the Mid South area (our region map is HUGE) we have been as far over as Swindon, as far down (so far) to Basingstoke, across to the east, to the likes of Stotfold and as far north as Silverstone/Northampton etc........ It is a BIG region
