Sorry it's taken so long to organise but here we go:
Trial Run - 22 October (subject to sufficient interest)
Round 1 - 12 November
Round 2 - 10 December
Round 3 - 28 January
Round 4 - 11 February
Round 5 - 25 March
Round 6 - 22 April
Hope these don't clash with anything!
Rules:
6 rounds, 4 to count
100 points for 1st, 99 for second and so on - 1 point for TQ
any battery
any motor
Pre 94 and Pre99 classes
Hmmm now i could do both classes.... but i did like driving the Top Force last year so put me down for the pre-94 class Pete :)

At last someone's showed interest!
I was wondering if it was worth running this as I don't want something that only gets two or three runners and then fizzles out.
Fair enough Pete i agree with you. If we dont get enough entries for a series how about a one-off race night for vintages with a trophy or something ? Might be viable ?

Could i run my rc10t? Waiting for a couple of bits but will be able to do november.
So does this mean we can use brushless and lipo or is it strictly old skool electrics?
Count me in with an RC10!
peetbee
07-10-2010, 07:28 PM
Part of the fun is seeing how well the old transmissions last with lipo and brushless!
RC10T would be interesting, just no driving over the rest of us as the plastics get a bit brittle with age!
Caine
07-10-2010, 07:33 PM
Ha Ha i promise i wont, shame my rc10 isnt on the road! My transmission has held up well with brushless so far but been thinkin of replacing the topshaft and using the t4 slipper clutch, have heard it'll take quite low turn motors with that mod:thumbsup: Even thou that would be stupid would'nt it?
Who said anything about brushless....! :D he he he
Ill be running brushless but with GP3300's in the Top Force, but if all other drivers are running 2wd on the night ill switch to the TRX3....
As Pete said anything electrical goes really, it just depends on how worn your plastics are !
is it a top force evo? either way it will be good to see
peetbee
07-10-2010, 10:27 PM
The top force is fantastic, I want one almost as much as I want an RC10.

Maybe run a one-off round at the Christmas bash :woot::woot:
Would that tempt your RC10 off the shelf then Si?
Had the first test run of the RC10 Team tonight....I LIKE IT!:D
No servo yet but all other leccys in...including a circa 1992 brushed LRP Magic motor.
Seems to have lots of power, nice noise and sparks!
peetbee
14-10-2010, 06:58 PM
Oh, that's not fair I won't be able to concentrate on driving as I'll be too busy looking at the RC10!
Will someone sell me one please? :(
i could loan you mine for a week and enter the losi as a vintage instead
im quite liking the brushes as it goes
peetbee
14-10-2010, 10:37 PM
You won't get it back! :D
PS - sounds like there may not be anyone running vintage on the 22nd (other than Liam) so we won't have a trial run before the series starts - although you are more than welcome to run with the modern stuff!!
It's probably worth saying that even on weeks where the series is running, all the normal micro and tenth classes will be running their own heats too.

19-10-2010, 05:00 PM
do they have to have vintage tyres too, or can we grab some mini pins off Paul. Currently after a Boomerang, mmm memories as The Hornet i had was rubbish:D
LOL no you dont have to have Vintage tyres....
Then again, i remember Andy running his Thundershot with vintage tyres and it wasnt half bad...ish.... on the carpet anyway :woot:
I cant be there this friday but the Top Force is all ready to go for round one :)
took the rc10 for a run down the park today...I really like it! seems to bounce along nice on the grass
after afew mins i thought i would touch the brushed motor to check the temps and when i did got this odd "Hissing" sound on my finger:o
Hot hot hot!
think ill drop down a couple of pinions

Vintage tyres would be interesting - these are still available - everyone to run these in blue compound!!
http://www.racing-cars.com/images/T650_w.jpg http://www.racing-cars.com/images/T652_w.jpg
If I make it this week, I won't be running vintage, so I reckon the first outing for nearly everyone will be the first round - should be fun!
ill be running a brushed motor in the RC10 for as long as my charger can keep up with its energy demands which i dont think will be long!

Ooooh yes i love those old YZ10's :)
Axeman, you said you were looking for something vintage yet competitive for the series, thats about perfect dude
I almost mistook the new b44.198664 x pie (whatever there calling it) for one of these at Kidderminster the other week...very nice!
I prefer this to an egress but the avante is still my top vintage 4wd

It's ok Matt, he can beat the rest of us by as many laps as he wants - with the B3 he won't be scoring points against us! (2 classes don't forget).

olla all you Vintage racers
i watched you guys do this some time ago at Caldi and it did look like fun
what cars class as pre 94 and pre 99? appaert from the AE cars i have no idea- one question is a xx4 pre 99 and are you letting people run them in 4wd vintage?
Im looking at 2wd for vitage fun
peetbee
05-11-2010, 03:03 PM
Yeah, I really didn't think the pre-99 through properly. It was aimed at a couple of people who wanted to run their mid 90's Cats and Cougars (none of whom seem to want to race now!) xx4 does count as pre-99
2wd and 4wd are running together for vintage - unless we had enough entries for 2 heats! Even then I'd be inclined to split based on year rather than transmission.

Looks like scrap, but I could be wrong :)
Its a mk1 Kyosho Lazer ZX circa 1989/90 Bill, and looks to be in pretty good nick :)
Shocks arent original though, look like early Scumachers to me ?
Perfect for the vintage series, and i have spares if you need any...
Welshy40
21-11-2010, 11:09 PM
Looks like scrap, but I could be wrong :)
Its a lazer zx and still the best 4wd buggy ive ever driven, knocks the trf511 for strength easily. I used one from 1988 to 2000 Doing thrre club events and one major event almost every week and broke only 1 wishbone, and three rear belts and one front belt. Superb on carpet, dirt, clay and grass as well on a flooded grass track.
Scrap, No chance. A far better product than whats curently being made. A set of trx1 shocks and 7.5 degree front castor blocks and a tub chassis (the original first design) and is an effective buggy and can show these new cars how well engineered it still is.

21-11-2010, 11:19 PM

Defo early Schuey shocks on there.
Dust it off for some vintage fun next month Bill, be ace if those electrics still worked too!
Academy, Tamiya and Kyosho wheels* will fit on there letting you run some decent tyres too!
*plus others using a 12mm hex

i think its going to take a lot to get this old girl race ready but i'll bring it down to caldi next time i'm racing if anyone wants to take a look and give any pointers on what needs doing to her.
thanks for all the vintage knowledge chaps :)

22-11-2010, 12:05 AM
It wont take much Bill - refill the shocks ( dont know what pistons are in there so open them up ! ) check the diffs are ok, oil the U/J's, bung on some mini pins or spikes, an old 14-19 s/d/t brushed motor and your away
Enough to start with anyway - otherwise take an afternoon/long evening to strip & rebuild it. Wont take long, they are easy to do.

Pred was an amazing car to drive, but you were scared to go within 12 inches of the track marking.
I am talking the worst car to actually drive, the one that handled like a 3 legged giraffe stuck in quick sand.

The wild willy was meant to handle badly though!
We discussed the whole brushed v brushless and he consensus was run whatever you like. Most people seem to have gone brushless but 10.5 (or slower). Same for batteries too, I think everyone's gone lipo.
I haven't seen a Tomy for a long long time!

Hehe i remember having a head on with Dave when he got taken out and his YZ10 wishbone snapped in half. Still damn nice car and will easily compete with the new cars. I won several big events with a YZ10.
I preferred my zxr alongside my B2. I havent driven anything better than the B2 so intend on staying with it.

Someone asked the other day what the worst car I'd ever driven was.... answers on a postcard :woot:
Craig, i didnt think mine was that bad. You just couldnt drive the car according to my gearing. It went well and got me some good results. I agree with the pred as mine was binned at one of the welsh rounds as it was crap.
Pete, im not going to try and persuade you on the lazer as i know the yok suited you and Dave better. It worked well for me as it was twitch city and would turn instantly no matter what grip or tire including Craigs cut n shuts. Built like a tank and simple to rebuild. I changed a rear belt in Neath and Craig couldnt believe it took less than five minutes. Still i miss my original and still cant find the tub chassis which is gutting.

Just thought I'd share my old flame with some of you vintage boys and your club looks great, dead relaxed and friendly. I really want to get the old girl out of retirement for a bit of a swansong. Trouble is this club is frickin miles away from me! :-) She is ready to roll, subject to my speedo still working. I don't want to go brushless if possible, that's for my new cars! Still got my Fabbiix batteries and B&R motor in - probably both fooked!

Gutted matt and his car won't be there had fun chasing him round the track last time! In an attempt to get the firedragon to turn I have fitted the savox servo from my tourer, bought and fitted terra scorcher adjustable upper arms to dial in some camber and got some spikes and mini pins!. If it still doesn't turn i might just turn down the  speedo lol!

Lol just read my post back see what you mean pete!
For the record I've only spent £8 on the upper arms which allows me some camber adjustment , u guys all have turnbuckles to adjust my low spec dragon doesn't !
All the tyres and servo are from my other RC cars lol so nothing bought specifically to 'race'

It's just the fact that you've fitted them all to improve performance tho!
If this carries on I may have to replace the worn out parts on my car:lol:
JACKOR33
27-01-2011, 02:14 PM
I'd say that having steering is more a vital requirements than performance enhancing lol!

29-03-2011, 09:56 PM

29th is good for me, more time to get the yoke ready, may even have my shell for the xls by then :woot:
29th is better for me too.
I need to dig out some new gearboxes for the Top Force.... :woot:
Belsten
30-03-2011, 09:32 AM
give another car a run mate
I just dont have time to prep another Vintage car atm Dave - i can change the Top Force gearboxes quicker than prepping another car

30-03-2011, 01:17 PM

brian s
31-03-2011, 06:13 PM
not really,i have`nt got as many spares for the procat as i thought, so could well run an optima mid or my rc10 (wont be as quick with it as martyn though).
peetbee
31-03-2011, 07:44 PM
I was just joking!
Martyn was flying with that RC10
brian s
31-03-2011, 08:25 PM
i think he likes the rc10,wants to run it in the next round as well, so it`s ether the cat or optima for me.
