I'll try to get to a couple but there are a lot of clashes there unfortunately

Could tempt a couple of us form the warm indoors world of electric racing.
Which track will the series be run on?...is the astro coverage going ahead?
Shouldnt that be 'mag models'?

teambowen

You are correct M.A.G Models.

The track the series will be run on will be the big main track down at ledbury.
Yes the astro will be down in time to run the series on it.

And before you start to panic we are in the process of laying the astro down so that we can create a short course for the electric 1/10 scale to run on and not run on the 1/8 scale track, unless you decide you want to run the 1/8 track.

For the organizers it will mean changing the track layout but all of us at ledbury think that it is worth it to see more elctric racers turning up and having a go.

the 1/10 scale track will be a car friendly track HOPEFULLY.

Feedback during the races from you drivers means that we can then tweak the track to suite or challenge those who race.

Just mate sure Mr Morgan is dragged kicking and screaming with you lol.
We had a lot of fun last year racing your nitro GNR drivers.

will the entries be 2wd and 4wd separate classes?? Run on astro?
sounds good:thumbsup:

05-10-2010, 07:53 PM
Griff mate, if you can get enough of each, i'm sure i can say for the club that we would run 2 round's. one for 2wd & 4wd.
But we need the number to turn up for this to work.
Otherwise we would run them both together.

As i said before if anyone comes up with track layout ideas that we think we can get to work, adding jumps etc.

We will have no problem setting the track in this way for the next meeting.

Hey Roger

Sorry if there are clashes
Ive tried hard to avoid as many meetings with different series as i can.

I know that it does clash with some MAM series as was planning to do that mayself but just too much goin on this winter.

Make a couple if that is all you can do as any points count

Hi Nath / Jamie

Any scope for Short Corse Trucks & 8th Electric in the series ?

teambowen
11-10-2010, 08:20 AM
Hi Lee.
We have allways offered to run short course trucks but no one turns up.
If there is enough interest in the 1/8 electric then we should be able to put on a round.
But if numbers are low you may have to go in with the nitros.
We have run electric and bitro 1/8 scale together before and to be honest the 1/8 electric was really inpressive to watch.
It took the jumps that were really well on the old big track.

See what interest there is and we will go from there.
Thats all we can say at this moment.

Quite interested in this. Just got back into 10th Off Road. Would echo the above and just ask how many are booked in so far to do this in 10th ?
I'm happy even if only a few, as it gives me more practice, but would be nice if there was a few to pit myself against.

Thank you

Am afraid we havent got any electric entries yet

Its down to you guys to get your names down and try to convince a few others to come along with you.

If we can get 8 or 9 then ill do rallycross and electric to bump up the numbers abit

teambowen
21-10-2010, 08:38 AM
I also will do rallycross and electric
and Oliver my son can do truggy and electric to bump up the numbers.
Griff has indicated he might come, only hinted though

That makes 3 to 4 that will run.

We're therefore half way to definately runnig the electrics.

We want you elctric racers to come and race at the track so we will pull out all the stops to tempt you to come.
Because we all think you guys will love the track layout and the grip it will produce.

I will be racing in Leominster on Friday and will Ask BIG G, Wezzer etc to see if they're interested.

But you guys needs to give us an idea of interest else we can't say anything about numbers.

Your call guys.

Unfortunately your first round clashes with the first round of the Ardent winter series, second with a MAM round, 3rd with the EBOR 24hr, 4th is before 2 full 2 day weekends of racing in January and I need to spend that keeping the good lady quiet.

I will try to make the 5th round if I can as I really like your venue and it's the closest off road track to my house by a considerable margin!! Shame how the dates have turned out :'(

See you Friday, mid motored RB5's frist run on carpet!

I don't know about anyone else, but racing outside in winter just doesnt work for me anymore....even on astro as the cars get filthy, and your thumbs refuse to work (i am doing electric btw). This is only my opinion, but i know other electric drivers feel the same.

I would be happy to race outside at around march/april, and would like to help with suggestions for the tenth track, in terms of layout surfaces and improvements! Might be worth trying to make the tenth track more all year round (are you putting astro on the tenth track? This isn't clear?). If you do get some astro down, try seeing if you can get a special meeting(s) added to the mam, so you dont clash...just a suggestion

I would not be happy racing my 10th buggy on the eighth track either (this is what i understand might happen, correct me if I am wrong).

Good work so far though and hope you have success with your winter series venture

Pownabown
21-10-2010, 01:29 PM
A Part of the Winter MAM series would be nice.
Providing they accept when it comes to next year and they are happy with the track.

Basically whats happening is were building our 8th track to be more suited for 10th scale and that we have enough astro down to have a circuit where we can run a full astro 10th scale meeting and also 8th meetings using the larger area consisting of grass also

Our 10th track in the corner will be staying as grass and will be maintained
ready for next summer.

So this way we can run 10th in winter on astro and 10th on grass in summer
all depending what people want to race on.

Best of both worlds

And if your getting cold hands get a transmitter muff and stick some gloves on lol

teambowen
21-10-2010, 01:43 PM
I must admit the ledbury track has less chance of breaking your car than racing at Leominster and i'm a member of both clubs.

The track will be 4 metres wide and the jumps have all been made in to rollers.
This is purely for 1/10 scale racers.
We will always be able to add larger jumps if we deem it necessary for the 1/8 buggies and truggy's on nitro racedays only.

I'm loading up some up to date photos at the moment.
See what you think.

Cold hand's, nothing to say there i'm afraid.

Mark grow some nuts man (not that you'd notice any for several days after a Jan / Feb MAM @ Coventry anyway ;) ) .... most of us 1/10th boys are more than happy to run the cars all year around ..... afterall who doesn't like the feeling of a nice warm furry muff against their fingers on a winter morning :D

Yes, I know I am a wuss.... but it is just not for me - been there done that. Glad you cleared up the 10th and 8th track thing - THANK YOU! :) Good to hear your not covering the original 10th track over.

Pics look good by the way - hope your events are successful. Glad to hear your not building a damaging track -

I have been to a few of these, and they are not fun, just profit makers for shops

Hope you get made part of the MAM series for next year, I would be more tempted to take part then, as Coventry is a little far for me. Might try and pop down to an event next year (Early 2011) when its warmer! I am booked up for next weekend unfortunately, otherwise I might have come over.

Good luck guys!

Glad you took that as meant mate :)

Will be great to have a good astroturf track for practice and testing on locally. I think that the Ledbury lads should be applauded for their efforts towards making their venue more 1/10th friendly. It's not the primary class the club was set up to race and the core membership is still nitro based I'm sure.

Having the option of a great grass surface and an astro track is a good one, all bases covered there.

Hats off chaps, you have a new member for sure when that track is finished!!! Let me know if you ever want any opinions or discussions about what makes a good 1/10th OR track .... after 25 years I've seen a lot of poor tracks and but some absolute peaches too.

It looks like a more advanced version of an old track I used to race at over in Oxon, during a winter series. Well done guys. How about a lowish, but long table top, would be ace I reckon :)

If you put up a big marquee with some patio heaters into pit (a bit like RobinHood Raceway) I might be convinced to make it down over the winter

Absolutely Cracking Day

Started a bit wet underfoot, but grip was there, got lovely and dry during the day, change of tyres sorted that and a bit of that wet stuff a couple of times later just to throw in another challenge.

Was cracking though, even running on the full size 1/8th track. Next time though, definately be nicer if it was a bit shorter, around 25 sec max lap time would be nice.

Can't wait to come again.

Well Done to all

I liked the track. No complaints there. Ledbury club have done a cracking job on it. Only little things needed attention where the grass and astro joined there were some random ruts sending the car cartwheeling.

I'll be brutally honest with the next part. Marshalling was non-existant from the Truggy drivers in round 1. The excuses about they only listen for cars on their roofs doesn't cut it. We all have 2 eyes at the end of the day...

I think the meeting could be run a bit smoother. When it was announced the computer had crashed and the Truggy race had to be re-run it look about 20 minutes to acually happen. Surely this could/should of happened in 2 minutes since all the cars were still warm from the previous run.

5 mins between heats was tedious. Maybe it's because I'm honed to Stu's 90 second counter that it pains me, but we (the 1/10th) didn't need 5 mins between Truggy and electric it was just wasted time.

Forgive me if I'm wrong about nitro racing, but I saw a lot of course cutting where drivers were jumping the table top before the loop and jumping over the corner to gain time. I even saw someone gain 2 places by cutting this corner. Marshalling was very slack again even with 5 mins between heats/finals some drivers still failed to be on their spots for the start of the race.

In the A final Rally X 1 marshall actually re-fueled someone's car while on his point. During 1 re-fueling another car had crashed so he couldn't perform his marshalling duties. Also the time gained by just pulling in next to a marshall must be quite a lot since all the other drivers had to slow to enter and exit the ramp, etc. Surely if this is to be a proper league series this should be looked at. If marshalls are in short supply a club member should of been appointed.

Gripes aside and my moaning behind us I had a nice day's racing. I was ready to go home at midday, but glad I stayed :)

Ritchie T
01-11-2010, 11:02 AM
Yes is was a good day. Can see a lot of effort went into the track! I would say its more rally x friendly than 10th though.

The astro section where you drop down and then go over the table top at an angle just before the loop is great section btw! We also had a little run round at the end for a bit and the table top in the middle works better the other way round.

Cheers to Big G ^^ was it? For a little blast of the Cat after the final :)

Will definatly be back, were currently converting touring drivers to buggy at our local club

Hi Guy's.
Thanks for your honest opinions of the track and what you felt about the days racing.
I think will all agree that the track has historically been used for 1/8 nitro truggirs and buggies.
We as you have said have done a lot of work prepping the track for the weekend just gone.
This is the first time the track has been raced on and we know there will be areas that will need working on so your comments have been noted.
When Big G asked if the electrics were running on the grass in the morning i said to him we were probably going to reduce the track down so the electrcis would run on the astro only.
To this Big G replied " oh i was quite looking forward to racing on the grass" so i didn't approach Nathan about shortening the track.

The layout as you have already said can be changed around beause of the way we have laid the astro down which in turn puts us in a position to make really interesting and technical tracks for both electric and nitros.

It's me being honest rather than petty. I'm sure constructive criticism is appreciated on their 1st meeting. If my comments are cast aside I won't get upset about it :)

If you need 5 minutes to warm the engines up then fine, but even with those 5 mins some people still couldn't manage to be on their marshall points in time for the rest to start.

Track was great imo. just like I said before. It didn't matter if you ended up with 8 laps or 15 laps. If there were a lot of new racers then perhaps a quick guide to racing was needed :)

I think racing Electric and nitro together is tough. It's made even worse with only 1 heat of electrics. At Tally Electric marshalled Electric and Nitro marshalled nitro. Obviously this wasn't possible at this event.

I'm sure Ledbury will take away all the points/comments made and make the events even better :) Don't take what I say the wrong way. Having feedback from electric is just as valuable as feedback from nitro if you want to run the 2 together in an event

Gareth, your comments are your opinion and as that are very valid.
We will and are listening to your replies on what we can do to make things work better.
We (lmcc) want more electric racers to come racing, that is one of the reason we have left the grass track for you to race on in the summer.
We are mainly a nitro club, we want this to change.
There are quite a few nitro racers who also race electrics indoors, I race with Big G every other week at Leominster and can see the issues from both sides.
IMO electric racing is much calmer, controlled and relaxed.
Nitro racing can be a nighmare and very hard work BUT is just as good fun.

Marshalling, you are right but i've been to both nitro and electric races where the marshalling has been a bit laxed.
The more meeting's there are with both elctric and notros racing, the better the marshalling and the overall understanding between the 2 groups of drivers there wil be IMO.
If we can get enough electric racers to turn up to make 2 Qualifier's i for one would be more than happy to let you guys marshall yourselves but it's up to you guy's to help us promote the track and get more racers trackside.
That is why we will listen to you guys to try and improve things for the future.

Gareth, your goal is to:
Get 16 electric driver's to turn up and race. just kidding mate, but that's what we want.

Hopefully we will see you trackside again mate.
From the comments, it seem's everyone else will be back.
