We have set the deadline for Entries to 25th Sept @ 15:00.

If we haven't had 25 Entries by this time and date, we will have to cancel the meeting (30th Sept).

Please get your Entries in ASAP:

The Weather is looking fantastic so it's a shame if it has to be called off after so much time and effort has gone into this

http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/dayforecast.asp?zipcode=Newbury&day=6

Just also to remind anyone thinking about it that there's a chance CML Raceway will host a National event in 2008 so this could be ideal practise on a dry track with a nice fun friendly atmosphere.

(Not to mention the fantastic hot & cold food by Lee's Mum)!

How many you got?

Nick Goodall
24-09-2007, 10:22 AM
Looking at around 10 so far purely based on people that have confirmed they're coming

There may be a few more that would just turn up on the day but it takes a lot of effort to put on any sort of meeting when you think of all the food, track prep and people like Jon coming down to run it so without a guarantee of at least 25 people it's just not worth running :(

I'd be gutted if it didn't run.

My tyres are glued. My new shell is badly painted.

Apart from charging batteries, I'm all set.

Let's get it on.

Elliott.

I'm with you Elliot, be a real shame if we have to cancel so please urge anyone you know to Pre-book if they haven't done so, even if it's just a quick e-mail to literally say they're coming!

We set the date early as we want to make sure people find out in time as there's nothing worse then turning up to find out it's been cancelled!

Last chance for people to let us know if they're coming.

We're keeping entries open until 15:00 today so if we've not got 25 by then it will have to be called off.

Thanks people.

I'm just trying to get Lee to confirm he still definitely wants to cancel it as i need to know how many entries he's had (just in case we're not counting any).

Will advise ASAP :)

If it helps I'd be willing to do the meeting without the outstanding catering (just this once). Obviously I'm trying to set a precedent here.

May be a more informal meeting is the way to go?

Elliott.

i'd happily go with out food if that is a major issue too. excellent as it is!

JCJC
25-09-2007, 03:50 PM
I think the issue may be more to do with timing and race control, how many are we up to now?

Surely Lee can knock uo a few burgers:D

can we make it a reedy race format if it's not an offical points meeting? just an idea for fun!

Big thanks to Lee, Chris and Pete again for a good days racing with awesome food. Huge thanks to Jon for coming down to run it again for us all and for sorting out the heats for our Reedy style day - Certainly made it interesting and i think everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Hope that's the case anyway, i think next time with a few more heats and say 5/6 rounds it would work really well!!

Top job once again by all.

Chris Doughty
01-10-2007, 12:34 PM
indeed, was a good event!

modelimages
01-10-2007, 12:43 PM
the reedy style was certainly different, having never run that type of race before i was a bit in the dark has to how it worked but the software worked and its actually a very good format for club/regional meetings, a normal 10am to 5pm meeting would give every racer 8 races rather than the current 4 plus a final, the racers need to be on the ball with regard to which heat and what crystal as it changes every round.

anyway congratulations to the winners (nick and Lee) thanks to the martin family for the hospitality, it was nice to see a b44 in the flesh and going really well.

Same thoughts here, with young Jordan very rarely getting into the A's it was nice to be able to race all the heats (race all day so to speak) and not "hang around" in the afternoon for the C final & marshalling half hour that he usually needs to put in.

But as said above great relaxed easy going day, Jordan keeps saying how much he enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone that helped make it that, all the racers, Lee & his mum & dad and John in race control get special thanks.

Lee Martin

cheers all...i had a really good day too!

loving the reedy race style!!!

who wants to do it again?

be ace with more people!!!!!

what did everyone else think?

Chris Doughty

I would definately like to do it all the time!

just need to mix up the races a bit more, and have more to count, for example 3 from 4. because its about racing and not always about 'best time' 3 from 4 would work.

Reedy style sounds cool, it would definately tempt me to come to a couple of rounds if all meets are Reedy style.

Nick Goodall
01-10-2007, 01:50 PM
As Jon said if we had more people and started at normal time we could easily get between 6-8 rounds so you could do 4 to count or something, would really appeal to people that way i think!

Yep i'm up for it again anyway!

I know it depends on Numbers but i think if you had 8 to 10 people and then did two line starts it would make it even better and probably a bit less carnage at the first corner - plus it stops the front row hanging back trying to play it safe :D

Elliott Hopkins
01-10-2007, 01:58 PM
I liked it. I spent the day 'clawing' my way through the field. Picking off the crashers (not to say I didn't crash myself of course).

I prefer to chase. It's better practice. And I needs me practice.

I'm pleased with 7/13. I didn't think I would be that good.

I woke up at 7am, just in time to see Lewis cross the line in Japan.

Elliott.

Chris Doughty
01-10-2007, 01:59 PM
I think there should be 3 rows.

the normal front and back rows (decided by heat), and the 'optional' chickens row at the back... :D

its only fair, some people don't want to be involved in the drag race to the first corner

alrg500
01-10-2007, 05:12 PM
I thought everyone was hanging back to watch Chris's mad Lipo B4 to see if it would still be upright by the first corner especially on his last start. A set of wheely bars for next time.;)
Format worked well, 3 from 4 would have been good, 4 from 4 would have been excellent as both Chris and Nick failed to finish at least one round.
Would have been good to see Nick and Chris in the same heat at some point as that would have been a good race.

Chris Doughty
01-10-2007, 06:25 PM
yes I think it would have been good to have counted maybe all of the rounds, rewards the 'safe' and well prepared driver...

hmmm round3.... seems my LiPo could not do a practise and 3 rounds of qually without a charge... :D

but it could perform double backflips off the start line!! you need to bolt a set of 4200's to the nose!!

MK999
01-10-2007, 08:39 PM
Mine didn't like doing 2 rounds on one charge, as you found when it rolled up and keeled over in front of you, silly mistake cost me what was when it died, the best round of the day for me :(
