Worksop Set up X4 Pro

Thought you guys might to have look at what I ran with.

I was using big bore shocks.
I ended up drilling out 3 of the six holes in the front and back.
Front out to 1.1mm and the rear to 1.4mm.
30 wt oil all round.
I was running Schumacher springs and they have a MUCH selection.
2.3 on the front and 2.0 on the rear.
Front shocks- middle at the top and inner on bottom.
Rear- middle at the top and inner at the bottom.
Long wheel base.
13' caster.
Long camber link on the front with 4mm washer under outer ball stud.
Shortest link on the rear.
Ride height 22mm front and 23mm rear.
6.5 motor on a 23 pinion.
Rear wing was 5' with about 2/3mm left of dam in the middle of the standard wing.
Schumacher Mini Pins Yellow all round, nothing cut off with soft inserts.

I felt that it could of done with another hole drilled out of the pistons to make it 4 holes drilled out.
Other than that I thought it was ACE.

Thanks for this post, since I've just started building my X4Pro and your advices come at the right time!! One question about shocks: I've bought the Kyosho Velvet Triple Cap, since I've red that they're great 4wd shocks. At the same time I've bought TCModels Big Bore shocks (the idea was to check how they work on my Mad Rat where I'm using the B4 Team Factory ones). Do you think that the big bores are better suited for the 2wd or 4wd? If it could help I'm going to use the Ansmann 8T brushless system.

I have not tried them on 2wd yet but off the 4wd they are much smoother and you dont get the double bouce like the normal shock after big jumps. And they look cool.:thumbsup:
You race at Cologna (?) if it is spelt like that?

I normally race in the Piemonte region (Italy's North West), mainly in Vinovo, Mondovì and Varallo (where we had the 2wd Italian Championship this summer).

I was over that way in 2005 for the Worlds at Cologna(? sorry). Really enjoyed it and it was a cool track.

I remember that, it was in Collegno (you get it almost right) and it was the first RC race I've ever seen, thanks to a close friend of mine (Giovanni Vaciago). The event was awesome and the first opportunity to get in touch with "professional" drivers. My friends raced there for a while, but I've understand that only the tarmac circuit is still active.

6.5 motor on a 23 pinion.


How hot was that running? The reason I ask if that Rob and I dropped down to 19T pinions with out 6.5T motors last friday, yet you could still fry a leg of lamb on them!!

What you have to remember is that the motor is like you muscle in your leg. If you take small steps it gets very hot very quickly and if you take long steps your lungs suffer.
It is the same as gearing. If you under gear then the motor is working too much and if you over gear the speedo works too much.
You have to get it correct for your track.
If it is too hot then go up a few gears.:thumbsup:

Cheers Stu - It was not running too hot yesterday, but that was on one of the UK's largest carpet tracks.
I will try going up to a 22T this friday. I have also ordered one of the new motor mounts with the heatsink so hopefully that will help.
