Track Work

Guys, Julian is planning on being at the track on Saturday and we are looking for volunteers to attend and give him a hand.

Steve and myself will be there on Sunday again for the track work.

Remember sooner we get the work done the sooner we are racing etc.

I'll be there Sunday but can't make Saturday as well - the missus will not be impressed if I go off on my own enjoying myself both days - suggested she could come and hand out tea and biscuits but she gave me one of those looks....

I think my wife may come to the track on Sunday, but I expect not when it comes to the day!

Indeed, I can't do both days, so I know what you mean Rob. She gave me the look last night when she came home to car bits in the lounge and cars everywhere :eh?:

Can anyone post if they are able to support Julian on Saturday, as he presently is on his own digging and laying the middle drainage for the track??

Help:eh?:

Working this weekend, both days. But i am down at my folks the following weekend so i'm in for the 14th. Can you update the progress after this weekend incase you need any specialist equipment or any other stuff for the following week..

Many thanks Neil.

Hopefully a good number of people will help this weekend, I just hope it's not just Alistair a Julian on Saturday.

Talking off wifes not being impressed. My wife went down to the track today to take delivery of the roller as i was at work and got her heels muddy. Went down well :woot:

We've laid the first drainage pipe down. I had to leave a short while ago, and the guys were working on the trench for the second pipe. Not sure how far they'll get through, but they won't be able to complete it because we don't have enough pea shingle left. If the trench isn't complete, it needs to be dug to 1 1/4 spades deep.

edit: it's looking a bit muddy for the roller at the moment - it'll probably just churn the mud up. We don't have enough sharp sand to cover the surface, so it's up to you guys to figure out what to do ;). I was wondering if laying old astro in front of the roller as it goes along might stop it from picking the mud up.

Well done the Saturday crew - sounds like great progress.

It's 08.30am and I'm just about to leave and it looks pretty wet - I live about 10-15 mins from track.

Had a thought about Alastair's astro-turf in front of roller and just remembered I've got a couple of old rugs (for the floor not my head) - they will be a lot light than astro-turf - I'll bring them along in case it works.

How did the rest of yesterday go? - I left about 11.45 when we were waiting for digger keys.

The was quite a number of people. We spent most of the morning completing the drainage ditches and building up the banked corner.

Following this we all lifted and moved the Rostrum, flattened the ground move it back. When I left it was half painted.

We were a bit stuck waiting for the digger key but I did arrive and carmron did a great job at starting to level out the track. However the digger had a few issues and it could not be completed. I believe that steve continued to use the roller on the ground after I left with the plan to get another digger.
