As you know the old track has gone and we need a new one!

Track size is 39m x 20m

Straight at the back of the track with features in front of the rostrum. Track width 3m and also do one with a width of 2.5-2.6m

Got a banked curve to try and incorporate at the end of the old straight.

Remember friendly marshal points.

Over to you guys.

Mike,

I thought I should bring this up.

Having the straight at the back of the track is a bad idea.

Judging the distance at the silly speeds is difficult.

Having cars go past the pitting area at that speed is seriously dangerous

I would recommend we go with the straight where is was.

Having a car go off the main straight at speed into the pitts is too risky

The majority of UK national tracks put the straight at the back: EPR, Stotfold, RHR, Silverstone.

It's easier than judging distant corners or features.

It's not a big problem, really?

And, we should really have a fence between pits and track, as per BRCA guidelines?

I'll have a go at a few designs now we have dimensions, I'll try to incorporate favourite features from tracks I've raced on this year.

I'd agree with Simon here.

I'm not thinking about designs at the moment until we have got the base track ready.

It's been a few weeks and I'm sure the establishment has ideas by now about a design, but what about features, aka: jumps, tabletops, tabletop corners, crossovers, rumble sections etc. Cos I've not heard a dicky bird.

Now I know one or two will instantly shoot down any of the above ideas with the "excuse" that the brca may frown upon big features, but put it this way, We're a track based in the middle of nowhere, completely out of the "1/10th off road" circle for many racers, So why should anyone venture down to an uninteresting track with no jumps or cool stuff? They wont.

I know it looks like I'm jumping the gun here but I want to make sure everyone is working toward the same thing here, and that's a new track with things to attract new people from afar.

I've not forgotten the attitude amongst some of the others when we first put the tabletop in, "gasp, I've never jumped my car before". Sad really:o.

We've not had an agm yet, nor a date announced for it, so I'm voicing my opinions now. If the plans are to build a fast flat track with no jumps, again, tell me now and I'll bugger off back to 1/8th.

I think as you have a blank canvas there you should try this.
Lay the astro flat.
Then build a few jumps and try them in different areas around the track, try different track layout's with these temporary jumps in different areas of the various tracks.
Then you will have a better idea on where to build more permanent features.
I am sure with such a nice surface going down, TORCH will put some very good features in. Like many have said, build it and they will come:thumbsup:

Sounds like a plan, I'm wanting a track that can in time hold a regional. Therefore width is key.

I'm not against features, just not wanting crazy jumps.

RE AGM, finding a venue is proving difficult and I'm not going to that dump of a pub as mentioned on Sunday.

I'm absolutely up for interesting features and all (and I liked the tabletop, for example), but I don't personally want it to be just a series of features - I like the technical difficulty of the old track.

I think the key aspect is a race track, not an assault course. It's a case of getting the balance right.

It is indeed, I'm just digging cos I want to know what's in store. I think a corner tabletop would be a good feature ( I liked the one at Maxbashing, wasn't very good on it, but I liked it:eh?:), a normal tabletop, capable of getting a good couple of feet of air would be nice.....and a jacuzzi :blush:, oops sorry, wrong list.

Seriously though, it doesnt need a shitload, a technical track with a fast straight and good features, something for everyone.

I won't mention the loop-da-loop I was hoping for then:thumbsup:
