Mark,
We don't want to clash with any other race - but its sadly impossible. The most important is 10th BRCA nationals - then a combination of 8th BRCA nitro nationals and european 10th off road meetings - there's so many meetings on any given weekend that it's a nightmare to choose a date.

Just a thought, presumably whoever supported this years event would have an automatic invite to next year?, if they then decline the offer then someone else would get their place. This would save all that faffing around waiting to find out if you were in or not so you could make plans in advance. Entrants from 2010 receive an email offering them the same class(es) that they were in before, they then have to reply AND pay before a given date (no exceptions).
Seems the fairest way to me to reward the people that supported from the start

Seems the unfairest I think.
Some people might not have been able to make it due to other circumstances and would want to go this time and they might not be able to just because some who went last year automatically receives an invite.

Seems fair to me... this is exactly as they do for the petit race.. a thank you for the support for the previous years entry.. BUT there is a dead line for this invite. Then its open to others.
Unfortunatley ive been in many situations where by i arrange events etc not just for RC, the initial interest is fantastic.. but when it comes to paying up... these people become very elusive..
Which is why i thnk Alec's idea is a fair one..
Ohh... a Short Course heat would be ace...

Crap idea. I could not attend last year but would if I don't have anything on for this.
Why not just not accept from those who booked but did not turn up.
Maybe cuz i you were booked in but didn't turn up, you took someone's place nd that wasn't fair either on those on the waiting list...

Why dont you just let Jimmy and the rest of the team that are organising the event work out a fair method of entry selection etc and have faith that they wont "screw you all over"?
I had an entry last year, and id LOVE to hope that ill get in this year too, but hell I certainly dont expect anything from Jimmy and co. and if I am lucky enough to get an invite then ill be as happy and grateful as a happy-grateful thing :)

Crap idea. I could not attend last year but would if I don't have anything on for this.
Why not just not accept from those who booked but did not turn up.As Nic said this is the same as the Petit, you get an automatic invite if you raced the previous year but if you're not all paid up by the deadline then your place is offered to someone else. Personally, i'd offer the other places to people who tried to enter last year but didn't get in, after that the people that want to go this time get "invited".
As i've said, i'm sure it won't please everyone, especially those who couldn't attend last year but hey, that's life ............ only a crap idea if it doesn't suit you :)

For me this is simple, as this is an invatational event, priority should be given to the drivers that attended last year. If you couldn't make it last year, you can only hope you get in this year.

Not sure, not done nitro either, but I think the theory of it is, if you win your final, you "bump up" and run from the last place on the grid in the next final up as well! In theory you could go from the bottom final, all the way up to the A final...every driver can win the entire event, no matter how you qualify.
Not likely, but you get the point...
Not too bad in nitro...refuel and off ya go...but in electric racing you'd need a lot of batteries!!! :woot:
Not sure what a '2 sided' bump up might be though?!?!?

Personally I don't like the bump ups, especially the double sided Christmas tree, i've been to meetings before where this is used and qualified in 2nd place and 4th place respectively at both meetings and didn't make the A
As far as i'm concerned if i've made top ten at the end of qualifying i've earned the right to race in the top final, I shouldn't have to do it all again to give someone else who had a bad day yet another chance, that's just ridiculous.
You can have perfect qualifying scores in all four rounds and be smashed off the track in your semi. Bad idea I think and should be left where it belongs with the 8th rallycross boys :)

As for entries, for undersubscribed events, or frequent regular events, i think the re-invite thing works well...giving regulars, who have truely supported over long periods with more investiment of time and money the priority.
For over subscribed, one off or less regular events, I think it depends...look at glastonbury festival. It's about giving everyone the same 'fair' opportunity to get in and experience it. i.e...first come first served. I've been going to Glasto for about 8 years, but get no priority what so ever!
All the choice of the organiser of course, who I'm sure will do their best. Most likely the hardcore usuals will get their place through pure eagerness in either method though. And if they don't through the first come first served approach, then maybe they don't deserve getting a place through invited entry where you'd actually be showing much less effort to get a place ;)
Who knows....but anyway, you'd never guess...I couldn't go last year and would love the chance! Check it though...comparison of oOple race with Glasto...one of the worlds greatest music festivals!!! :woot::thumbsup:

Come on Springer, remember we're not all top drivers, we don't qualify low down cos we've had a bad day, we qualify low down cos we're not as talented!
Us lot in the lower finals love the opportunity to improve, and enjoy some racing, not just watch the A finalists get more racing in the day, just cos they're quicker.

If you think by having bump ups the average driver will get more run time you're most certainly wrong i'm afraid :)

I'm with the no bump ups.
Qualify and then race in the order you qualify. The people who are in constantly in the A are there for a reason.
Alec races most weekends and at least twice weekly, he's faster than me then and thats just the way it is. (I can always sabotage his car in the pits).
He you go Matt we'll bump you up a couple of finals so you can finish last, or run you final, win it and get a trophy

Cris - bump up final finals for 1/10th off road at major competitions was the normal format way back in the early 80's... so no, its not a nitro thing.
Lipos these days give the opportunity to open door to new experiences, why not embrace them you might like it.
Alex - in the nicest possible way, your being ever so short sighted. Any A final at any RC event should and generally is exciting. However the other finals in the electric classes, really dont come close in terms of a spectacle to that said A final. Ok, so you have had a go and you dont like it, thats your opinion. My opinion is, your wrong :)
You see that making the A final is your days target.. not winning the event. With no one directly into an A final, the best qualifying goal would be to make the semi final, which in a 2 sided bump format would be 16 racers (8 in each semi)... so the chances of making the maximum qualifying position is increased. Yes, i agree that if you break in the semi, you dont make the ultimate goal of being in the main, but equally, break in the main and you wont win either. Racing should be racing and getting it over the line in one bit is part of racing.
Its a different format that would be fun and during the finals, would create an interest in every single final for all attendees (well maybe not my misses).
As for charging, 2 packs of lipos would cover it no problem. You race and then bump, you put that pack on charge and put in another pack, while the other side of the format runs. You then race and bump again. At this point you swap batteries again. The first pack would have been on charge for around 15 minutes minimum, which would have pumped in 1000mah at least. I would think you could do 4-5 finals like that before a pack would run flat.

I do like the idea that I will be able to race in the final I qualified for.
So I don't think the idea of bump up is a good idea, my personal opinion. Perhaps I would feel different if I had the opportunity to race that format.
I do also think that the way a person drives in a bump up system may be different to qualifying and finals. It may promote a bonsai, win it or bin it type of driving.
I think the best format is 2 rounds of practise, 4 qual, and 3 finals for all.

bump up finals are awesome
it gives you a chance to finish way higher up than you qualified if you can keep it together & finish high enough in your final/s
you get to race against faster drivers everytime you bump & often the tussle for the last bump up spot will have some spectacular battles
often way more entertaining than just watching the leader cruise around once he's made a gap.
yeah i guess if it was 3 finals for all then you may get more track time but if you bump up twice you equal that :)
it certainly works in Nitro & like Jon says it shouldn't be a problem with todays cells & chargers.
its a big meeting. double sided bump up finals are all about the big meetings

John - you're right, I had a go at the two electric meetings that ran this format as a trial, and you're also right, I didn't like it. Both meetings ran well and i'm sure some people enjoyed it BUT both clubs never ran the format again so it certainly wasn't just me who had a go and didn't like it :)
All the races at any meeting are just as important to the people that are in them, you set your own goals and of course whatever final i'm in i'd want to try for the win but even at your nitro meetings I doubt whether the first few finals get the same interest as the semi's or the main unless one of the "names" has had a bad day and not qualified very well. ;)

Put me down for it but just out of politeness and common courtesy send either a pm or email to the people refused.
I know if you're not part of the "click" you don't get in so I know I won't be in this one. I don't believe in arse kissing.:thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown::thumb down:
That's a sure way to help your entry...
Let's all just wait for the entry form to come out and take the invites from there (the key work is invite in this sentence) before this thread fills up with people asking to race.

I did fill in the form last year and no one emailed me back. I had to find out second hand from other people which from my point of view is disgusting.
I'm not popular with certain people who have an influence on what goes on. Like I said I refuse to kiss people's arses!
In my point of view the people that applied last year and didn't get in should get preference this year over the people that did.

Im suprised these invites don't get sent out as proper invitation cards... that'd be ace.
dpacker, pack-it-in. There's no clique, but by being negative your just poking the hornets nest.

Was there really any need for that? There was a feedback thread from the first event which could have been used to politely make suggestions about how things could be improved; this years invernational was the first of its kind and unfortunately there were always going to be some things that could have been better. I understand your point about receiving some form of confirmation whether the entry is successful or not and I'm sure this can be taken on board for future events.
The clique/arse kissing comments are pretty poor too. Granted there were bound to be some familiar faces - a team of dedicated dudes worked tirelessly to contribute towards the planning and (hopefully) smooth running of the event, so it would have been a bit mean not to allow them to race. However generally the aim was to accept entries from a wide range of drivers from different regions/countries, and of different racing abilities, and everyone who applied had a fair chance.
Constructive feedback is welcome, but posting slanderous comments is only going kick the morale of those who are working so hard to organise a kick-ass (not kiss-ass) event.

Well said Vicky
I put an entry in this year and somehow managed to get a place. Unfortunately, i had to decline it as something else came up that i could not get out of.
I will put an entry in again this year, especially as i'm a lot more into 10th now. Hopefully i'll get an Invite, so i can see what i missed this year. Oh i don't really know many people in 10th, so definitely not a Kiss Ass here...

You submitted a form requesting an entry - you didn't enter the race - we do that for you when you're accepted.
It's a long process, it's all done by hand - why? Because we want a mix of drivers from overseas, top drivers and average drivers.
Over 250 entries and we even upped the number from I think 160 to 180 that we accepted.
I didn't race - I went (obviously) and it was an absolutely awesome event, racing or not.
I submitted details to get an entry at the neo race 2010, I didn't get a place either - and I never got anyone telling me I didn't get a place. I know I didn't get a place because.............. I didn't get one!
It's not possible to tell you you haven't got something you might well still get. If you get it too last minute and you aren't able to confirm and pay then it'll go to someone else. Sadly it takes time to work through. If we keep spaces open right until the last week for some top drivers we'd like to attend, or spaces open up because someone can't attend, then any driver that has submitted details can still get an entry.
It sounds to me like you want to tick a box that says 'If I don't get an entry immediately, strike my name off the list please' - I suggest you write that on the additional-info box next time?

What happened did you look in the mirror first thing and realise that he was staring right back at you???? Pleb
I wasn't mocking the effort people made. I'm just bitterly disappointed at the lack of communication, unfortunately I work where I need to give notice so a swift email could have sufficed that's the bottom line.
I don't care if people don't like my views, however I know for a fact places were offered to people that didn't even submit an entry and that's a fact hence my blunt posts.
I wasn't slating the effort that people, it's hard organising any event.

Well done for being so efficient. Work is work, and don't be suprised many others also have to be so efficient too.
This is toy car racing, do it for enjoyment and to find an escape from work. Do it cos you enjoy it, because everyone else is, if something bothers you let it go or deal with it, don't keep it in and let it turn you bitter and twisted 12months down the line and reduce your enjoyment otherwise you have no escape from stress!

As Jimmy pointed out we were still sending out invites to drivers who registered their interest a couple of days before the event.
When we got the sad news at the last min that some of the Euro-warriors could not get their ferry sorted we accepted some more entries during Friday practice.
The point is that we can't send out any mail saying 'you will not get a place' because until the clock for round 1 starts you may still get a run.

Ermm, not being funny mate, but isn't that the bit that makes it an invitational?
If they didn't do that, it'd just be a race, they'd have to rename it and everything!

Point taken, I rather spend quality time with my son than the crappy politics of toy car racing.

And that my friend is a lie, simples. I was involved with entries for this years event (we're still in 2010) and even the superstars had to fill in the online entry form - it was the only way we had all their details. Some were "invited" to fill in the form, but fill it in they did - well some of them might have got their man servant or internet bride to do it for them, but the fact remains EVERYONE who got a place submitted an entry.
Fok it Jimmy, cancel it, we'll all go to the pub instead that weekend. It'll be a lot easier.

I would come back if I was invited again . only the date hits with a belgium national than.
so that would make it a problem
jimmy

Sorry about that - we could only really check all the UK dates (10th and 8th buggy) and big international races.
I also realise it's right after the World Championships - which I'll also be going to. And this might be a problem for some racers - but there's only a small number of drivers eligible for the Worlds, and those that can't go will be eager to race after watching/reading about that event. I hope!
