Do only BRCA sanctioned events count??

Just seems odd that's all - i'm sure we used to race on the day of the AGM too??

Isn't it usually on late so you'd still have time to get there after racing anyway??

Email from Mr Worsley ( thanks paul )

Hi Lee,

It is only BRCA sanctioned events that cannot be held on the same day as the BRCA AGM.

In Off -Road it would only be Regionals or Nationals that would be affected.
It is OK for Club events to be on the same day.
I assume your CML Series is not a regional event as all the Regional Series have now been completed.

Best regards,

Paul.

I seem to have forgotten how the Reedy format works ...... anybody want to remind me??

Lee Martin
18-10-2007, 11:51 AM
8 rounds of pure racing!

every time u hit the track you race to win, with points being scored upon where you finished in each race.

you drop your worst 2 scores from the 8.

Wraggy
18-10-2007, 11:54 AM
do you run finals in Reedy format to dude ???

Lee Martin
18-10-2007, 11:56 AM
no we havent done as every race is like a final. each round the races are mixed if pos!

Wraggy
18-10-2007, 11:58 AM
so do you start in grid formation for every race then ??
or 1 at a time ?? like normal qually ???

Southwell
18-10-2007, 11:59 AM
Normally 2 lines as theres not much room, then a free for all, drag race to the first corner :D

Wraggy
18-10-2007, 12:01 PM
Normally 2 lines as theres not much room, then a free for all, drag race to the first corner :D

there will just be carnage at the 1st corner!!!! :wtf:

Southwell
18-10-2007, 12:04 PM
Nah, not if everyone is careful. I like it cuz last time we did it i was first by the jump :D

David Church
18-10-2007, 12:08 PM
A 2 line start worked good at EPR last race, there were a few crashes, but it was good, I think it helps improve your racing. At Nationals you run 8 qualifiers along with practise and only 2 races, so this style has more racing action!!!:D

RogerM

Sounds cool but not the place to take a car on it's first ever outing .... especially if the driver has had a 3 year break from 1/10th!

Maybe next time.

I agree with that, the surface is smooth and the track stays consistant.
In fact the track has taught me how to jump my car better, its also the only track where i beat my F2 mate but thats beside the point....

I hadn't even held a transmitter for nearly 6 years before having my first ever go back at this track - honestly i don't think you'll find better, the jumps are 100% consistent, tyres last pretty much all day, the food's fantastic and the atmosphere is nice and laid back - perfect even for a returnee to Off Road

RogerM

You misunderstand me ..... nothing against the track, far from it ... looks brilliant! Only 1.5 hrs from my house too ... which is fairly close as there is chuff all going on in the west country!!!

I was refering to the Reedy style format .... wouldn't want to ruin somebody eleses day by dumping them into the pipes at the first corner due to not fully understanding the way my car is handling or how hard I can jump on the brakes etc. Might pop along for a look though.

showtime
18-10-2007, 11:27 PM
the first corner sorts out the men from the boys!

in truth its more about luck if everyone goes for it!
if you are at all concerned about it you should race but just hang back at the start then go for it ;)
you might even end up just driving round the carnage anyway!

JCJC
19-10-2007, 07:04 AM

then bring the car and have a practice !! you may find it worth your while

Good idea!!! Bring your car, have a practise in the morning, and race if you feel up to it!!!
Off-Road racing can use all the support it can get!!!:D

Lee Martin
19-10-2007, 02:40 PM
u dnt have to dragged to the first corner.....just hang back!

JCJC
19-10-2007, 03:16 PM
Last meeting, most carnage was before the first corner, everything sorted coming out of the first corner, marshall has to be attentive tho;)

Watching the starts, first heat everybody off on the beep, second heat I have the feeling everybody hung back a second, same result, but no major damage from the starts all day (I believe), everybody loved the format, made for lots of fine racing, and as said before, instead of 4 heats and one final, we got to race all day......much better deal.:):)

pro4nut
19-10-2007, 07:03 PM
I agree with what you say about the starts, everytime i got a dodgy start was from hanging back, in the last race i went for it on the beep and was in 2nd behind Lee coming into the first corner, didn't stay in second but loved every minute

I fancy a go at this, I've not raced at any 1/10th track bar Titchfield....ever.

Is it worth me having a go though? As last time out, At Clanfield, I discovered my car was sooooo sloooow. I may do the next one after this.

Some new cells and a new motor and i'll be wit' cha.

jim76
22-10-2007, 07:58 PM
to be honest, the first time you race there it will better if your car is slow. It is a technically very challenging track and if your car is a fraction too fast for your ability then it could be an expensive day.

come along and try it, then if your car is too slow you can speed it up for the second round!!

what configuration battery pack do you need?

NickG offered me the loan of some cells a while ago! they might work for you if he's still keen to help a rookie:)

I won't be using mine much Pesky. I turn up ready to rock. I'll probably only need it once.

A battery strap for a B4 however, now there's something I need. It's on order from Apex, so hopefully it will turn up.

I gave up using them after it took them 3 weeks to get a set of b4 front wishbones, if you want fast mail order dms racing in watford are very good, the guy there should tell you if stuff is out of stock I have ordwed on a thursday morning and had it arive by friday midday before.

I've used and liked Microtech and MK Racing and The Race Place is a godsend on a Sunday, but I thought I'd try Apex for old times sake.

'Ace' day. Thanks to all involved.

By ace I mean that it rained all day and I really needed to run new tyres. I have to say inspite of the rain and old tyres, the grip was pretty good.

Had some visitors come to watch me race, so there may be two noobs at the track soon.

Was it me or did it get quieter about the track as the day went on?
