Thought id post this as a thread instead of a PM to Pet and crew, that way every one will know the score once some one from the club has replied and confirmed .

What time will doors be opening?

Are there mains power points available?

Will you be using the whole hall for the track?

where are we pitting?, If no to the question above are we able to pit next to the track

will there be the magic penny hotdogs and other good food?

What type of surface are we running on...mixed all carpet? flat ,jumps??

and my last question what type of rostrum are you using.

Its been a while so id like some clarification on the above.

Blimey Chris, what a lot of questions!
Some of them are in the process of being answered so will update this thread as soon as I have them.

There is mains power, but bring an extension lead as you may not be able to pit right next to the socket!

There will be some pitting in the same hall as the track, other pitting available just outside in one of the other rooms.

Talking of pitting, please bring your own tables and chairs.

Track design not finalised yet but should be multi-surface. Tyres most commonly used at club are Schumacher yellow mini-pins & mini-spikes.

More details to follow

Will time stand still?

What way does the water swirl down the drain?

Will Pete be clean shaven (them whiskers are alive I tell you!!)

We haven't thought about a precise timetable yet, and will confirm after Friday night when we'll put the final plan in place!

As a guess, I'd imagine it will be about 9am start...though we will confirm this nearer the time. Format is 1 practice round, 4 qualifiers and 1 final, as per WRCA 2011 rules.

Our usual multi-surface (mixture of carpet, polish and wood), multi-level offroad track will already be laid by then, and if the hangover from my work xmas do doesn't get the better of me the day before, we should have a new rostrum built for it too. Much the same as the current wooden blocks one, but a little higher and longer to better suit the micro national venue spec that we're prepping for in January.

We've had to give the hot food a miss this year I'm affraid, mainly due to lack of someone to cook and serve it, but we will have the usual range of snacks and drinks available.

And since it's practically christmas...and our Christamas bash...there will be some Christmas cheer, prizes and stuff to celebrate that on the day!

If your not already...get booked in people...it all helps us get racing quicker on the day!

Nope, I won't be. It's winter now, the beard helps me stay warm!

Andy 'J-Dog' Jones is thinking of rocking up to this one! Get some Micro National Practise, it's the way I role!

I'll get the details emailed later!

Update:
Doors will open at 8am with Practice starting at 9am. Can't tell you what time we will aim to be finished by as that will depend on entries.

Talking of which, anyone entering after 16th December will be added to one of the lower heats.
As happened at Swansea, subject to numbers, we will be running a 'junior' heat (for those who have recently started out). Let me know if you want to run in that when entering.

Entry fees
Senior - £7 first class £3 for second class entered
Junior (Under 16's) - £3 per class

peetbee

Over 30 entries so far, please keep them coming as I need to sort the heats out by Friday.

Entry fees
Senior - £7 first class £3 for second class entered
Junior (Under 16's) - £3 per class

juniors up to the age of 14 race for free in any wrca round as long as they have full paying parent with them.
If not 1/2 price, and between the age of 14-16, or in full time education pay 1/2 price.

this did get voted in at the WRCA AGM

c0sie
12-12-2010, 05:31 PM
So anyone in full time education pays half right Axe?

My life just got 50% cheaper :)

peetbee
12-12-2010, 07:54 PM
Well I have to admit that I got the prices off the Cobra forum, as the WRCA haven't told anyone what they are, so I didn't know the detail about the under 14's, under 16s, etc.

Only a handful of entries are doing 2 classes Steve.

But come on everyone get your entries in!

Jamie.T
12-12-2010, 07:59 PM
Just need to find my P.T number and I'll e-mail my entry tomorrow Pete.

I'll be running just micro 4wd.

Roy
12-12-2010, 08:22 PM
We will have to get clarification from "H" but as Steve has said there was a vote on 14year olds, but it had already been voted 15 to 9 that the junior age was under 16 so in normal circumstances that should stand.

If the 14 year limit was prefered it should have been voted as an amendment first.

The plot thickens

I had a look on the WRCA site but most of it seems to be from 2008? lol

I wanna know what your rules state about people in full time education (other than that we are lazy tax dodgers!)

16th 2wd = 4
16th 4wd = 8
Truck = 1 (better be a few more for this to run!)

There are a few things in life that confuse me...and one of them is why Caldicot RC Club, as one of the best indoor venues for tracks in the country for its size (UK, let alone in the Wales/South West region) isnt better supported at events like these!

I think its a combination of a lot of things tbh Cris - the main one is that most people seem to think its miles away from anywhere in deepest darkest Wales and hard to get to, but in reality its just off the M4 over the Severn bridge...

Plus of course youll get conflict of other indoor series like The Ardent series, which are pretty much on exactly the same dates as ours. I think once the WRCA is back to its best we'll see a lot more people come our way :)

And I wouldnt worry too much about the regional, i have a sneaky feeling there will be a lot more entries by the weekend

peetbee
13-12-2010, 12:42 PM
Hope so Matt, can I put you down for 2wd & 4wd then?

Who know's Cris, one of life's mysteries, but I've had another 6 entries so far today.

It's almost impossible to schedule meetings that don't clash with other events, no matter what you do. Even if you don't clash you're still in the position of people not being able to commit to racing every weekend.

blue_pinky
13-12-2010, 12:52 PM
And it's amazing who turns up from nowhere on the day as well...don't worry about the entry levels Cris...numbers are looking plenty good enough to be honest!

Well over 40 entries now

Please note for parking:
We do not have enough room to park all the cars outside the hall, so there will be an overflow carpark in operation.
You will be able to use the the club carpark as a drop-off area but then will have to park in the RAF base!

Directions:
1/ Turn into Dinham Road from the A48 and take the 2nd right into Lawrence Crescent
2/ You will see a gravel carpark on the right hand side. Park here to get your gear into the venue.
3/ Go back out Lawrence Crescent, turn right and go through the big Army gates.
4/ Park in the car park on the left hand side.
5/ Walk back to the venue (it's not as far as it looks!)

Hopefully you can see what I mean from the attached map:

http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/3632/indexjy.png

Sorry about this but the Caldicot venue is slap bang in the middle of a residential estate so we have to keep the streets clear for the resident's parking and access. Please please keep the volume down and drive sensibly too!!

Many thanks

Well...this turn out looks great! Couple of busy looking heats too...should be ace

10 car finals has been talked about, but we need to make a final call on it. 10 x 10th cars on track at Caldi is a little cosy...and could be a little messy for finals...but...it is obviously preffered to stick to the norm and to run 10 car finals, so we might take that chance yet! We'll let you know for sure on the once we've made our minds up.

Weather report from near the track......

This morning there was snow.

Snow looks like someone ran around with a bag of icing sugar sprinkling a very light coating everywhere.

Snow on roads melted at the sight of cars.

We all lived happily ever after and went car racing!

I am driving around in my land rover today so that the global warming spewing from it will melt all the snow for you all.

Yup im in the same boat up here in Brecon - heavy snow even this morning when i was walking the dog, but it has been clear the last few hours. Again the roads are still bad, but the estates not having been touched at all by gritters and snowploughs and its a good 7-8 inches deep. Only things getting in and out around my way are 4wds.... A470 to Cardif was shut this morning and the A40 Brecon to Abergavenny was very, very dodgy according to a friend of mine.

I'd appreciate any road/travel info tonight from people around the Abergavenny to Newport area as thats the way i'd be coming.

But if it freezes overnight im not going to risk it....

Well i just tested the water a few minutes ago...
The road from Ledbury to Ross was clear as anything.
I just dont know which route to take tommorow?
Any suggestions as to which might be easier/less trouble. I usually come south from monmouth alongside the river, but it is very hilly and windy coming into chepstow..

Is the A40 and A449 towards newport then back east on the A48 worth a shot? I have never come that way.

Of course there is always the motorway! LOL

Excellent meeting today fellas! Enjoyed the track, once I got into the groove. Grip seemed to come up nicely in last two qualifiers, which was nice.

Might see some of you at Hereford in Jan for the 10th Off-Road Meeting....who knows.

Shame there were no trophies though. You Welsh lot have some weird rules and procedures....not that you can actually find any rules or procedures anywhere on the interwebs?!

Full results and times will be available to view online tomorrow. I would have done it tonight, but after a 5.30am start and 2 hour trip each way, I could barely move off the couch. LOL.

Top day tho, thanks to everyone at Caldicott for a great track, warm venue, tea and coffee and Pete belsten for running race control.

Thanks Everyone, it was great to see you all there and a fantastic turnout (only 6 people couldn't make it in the end). With over 50 runners it was a busy day!

I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and yes trophies would have been nice, but a bit too costly for us this time. We're always looking for ways to improve things tho!

See you all at Cobra next month :)

(BTW Jamie, who's Pete Broaden?!)

well gutted, couldn't make it as i was snowed in with around 12 inches of snow in my street and living on the side of a mountain does not help. to be honest i think it should have been cancelled and run on another date for safety reasons, as its a welsh regional and wales being battered with snow. oh well no indoor championship for me as i couldnt make swansea, snowed in for caldicot and now pointless doing cobra as 2 rounds is needed.

My thanks was, and is again to you Pete for running race control, and the guys who braved the weather to build a fantastic track on the Saturday.

Looking forward to COBRA now, just hope they can find some jumps :p

Great event guys with an interesting track and also the day was run super smooth at race control!
Don't worry Jamie Cobra will have plenty of bumpy things to go over for our WRCA round :D

Pretty big club day tho. Its definitely still worth doing as its more racing experience under your belt.

I still cant believe we had people attend yesterday from all over the country despite a bit of white stuff. Dave came from Tenby area, and Andy Jones came from Ellesmere port Nr Manchester.

I know the weather is frustrating and it meant some couldn't attend, but the meeting wasn't going to be canceled just because 6 people in total couldn't make it. That just wouldn't be fair on the people who did make an effort to get there.

I thought about that it should be cancelled, but then most could get there, it would be unfair to them.

Attendance would of been higher for some 'pre-micro national' practice!!

The more people that attend for the fun of it, the better.

I loved it yesterday it's fair to say and I would have hated it to have been called off!! Less of the Manchester as well Jamie, nr. Chester, it sounds more classy!! Although I am only 35 miles West of Manchester, I'm closer to Wrexham.

I think Pete may have been refering to me and Bish as random non-locals that made the journey for National Practise.

It did all seem to be getting a little bit to friendly for my liking at times, then again I was pitting with Belsten so what do you expect!

My apologies Andy, and your right, Chester does have a nicer ring to it. And its closer to the Hollyoaks babes LOL

Cant wait for the National round in January now, im sure the track will be even better (if thats possible).

Well, if that's the worst criticism we get, then I'm happy!
