Anybody know of any charts / info that compares AE and LOSI pistons in AE shock bodies?

Trying to compare Richard's set-up for Kiddy as a best guess starting point for CML raceway and all of his set-ups are based on LOSI pistons which I won't have for Sunday :(

Might make the difference between racing at CML and not this weekend so any help greatly appreciated!!!!!

I'm sure you can get the car to work well enough with AE Pistons, ask Lee what he runs in his B44..... i know it'll be Associated Pistons but not sure which - His car was dialled round there last time.

Other thing to consider is that this track has literally no bumps, so shock set-up is not as important as a track such as Kiddy. It's all Tarmac underneath the Astro so there's nothing that will catch you out

AE pistons are just dandy.....................

run 1's in rear. 2 in frnt and 30wt all round......................

acts as a good starter and will be dialled!

Cheers for the info guys ..... despirately trying to make it too this event and every little bit of info helps ..... 2.5 years is a LONG time in RC it would seem!

I found this over on rctech, so Im not sure if it 100% accurate.

Piston conversions:

LOSI: AE: KYOSHO:

#54 = .055"
#55 = .052"----- #1 = .052"----- 2B = .051"
#56 = .0465"---- #2 = .0465"---- 2C = .047"
#57 = .043"----- #3 = .043" -----3A = .043"
#60 = .04"-----------------------3B = .039"

Great, thanks Andy

Just done a quick check on the net to make sure but the following is the list of LOSI shock pistons

A5043 #60 pistons Natural
A5045 #57 pistons Black
A5046 #56 pistons Red
A5047 #55 pistons Orange
A5048 #54 pistons Blue

Now I look at the list I am wondering why blue pistons in the rear rather than orange ones ..... is it something to do with pack reduction, that would seem a logical reason for selection ......

However Richard has stated in one of the threads on here he has changed from trying to prevent the rear from collapsing via camber links and is now doing it via the shocks. If that is the case surely a smaller piston hole size and a slightly lighter oil would give a little more progressive transfer in roll which should help give the car something to lean on during the corner!?!?!?!

An explaination would be appreciated if anybody has one :eh?: ... Richard, are you reading this??

If it feels good, do it! ;)

A smaller hole and lighter oil will make the shock pack more, the blue and red combo works well, EVERYWHERE!!!

I have tried a few different pistons/oils and always go back to blue 30wt.

Also if you want a similar feel AE piston drill an extra 1.4mm hole in the piston;)
