I ran my 502 for the first time yesterday and loved it, was really solid to drive and generally very impressed with build quality e.t.c.

The only slight issue i had was mid and exit of corners where the back end would come around on itself like someone pulled the handbrake up, then on exit i would power on and it would drift sideways. (and it wasn't too much power as its only running 7.5)

I was running Lee martins set-up with brand new mini pins all round with front outer edge cut off, the only thing i could think of was that im running the kit std rear hubs, am i right in thinking i need more rear toe-in to keep it in line, and if so would the 0.5 ones be the job?

Hmm, maybe weight, anyone tried running some? But yeah I'd say more toe in would help too, though may make it a bit too pushy on power!

did you compare it to belstens on the day? i hear that was awesome to drive!

Ye, Belsten said his was a little the same, but looked a lot more planted on the track. He did suggest running the lipos in the forward position, but i dont think thats gonna help this issue. I could also be completely wrong, so i guess ive got to try it first.

Do you think moving the lipo forward will cure the "slidey rear end" problem, or will sticking 0.5 rear hubs be better, or maybe i should do both.

Whats the advantages and dis-advantages of running more rear toe-in?

Myself, i would try the lipo first and try to be smoother on the throttle out of corners. if that doesnt work, bang the rear hubs on and try that. its the only way to find things to suit your driving style

Cheers Andy, the only reason i was hesitant to move the lipos forward was because i only just managed to install the electrics with them in the "rear" position.

Ill have to get a micro receiver and be a bit more intraquete with my wiring.lol

I guess I'm wrong but....wouldn't moving weight forward give the rear less grip?

more than likely dave, but (no offence Jamie) it might all be down to throttle control and not car setup. All i know is moving the lipo forward transformed belstens car from ok to amazing. I'll have a look and watch next time we race together;)

Youve upset me now Andy :cry: lol. In all seriousness tho, it handles just like car would with new tyres on the front, and worn on the back, the car almost hooks occasionally on tighter bends and throws the back end round (off power) then it s a bit skittish out of corner, but thats down to me really.

I dont know how moving the lipo forward would give you more rear grip:eh?:

try the traditional stuff, stiffen front end, lighter rear end, lead towards rear, more rear toe in, longer rear camber link etc.

I know Pidge (Lee Martin) ran brass weights in the back of his 511x....This should give you some more traction.

Try sending him a PM, might be worth a shot to find out what he did to make his car so good at Moto Arena..

Belstens will be on the same setup as lee's. thats why i asked did he compare the setups. The reason i say to move lipo forward is to get the setup the same as his then go from there. Where the camber links etc. all in the same position as Dave's? We'll get her going sweet jamie:thumbsup:

Cheers Andy, ive started stripping some of it down this morning to make room for the lipos to come forward. Dont know why im rushing tho as my next race date for it will be the 16th Jan as i got the micro national at Caldi on the 9th. lol

Its gonna be a long xmas with no racing.

Howdy.

Firstly, put .5 rear hubs on the back. running these on mine now and seem alot safer and cure this problem.

Also moving the lipos forward will create less of a pendulum momentum and allow the front of the car to pull the rear out of the corner instead o the weight transferring to the back and causing a slide.

My current set-up is exactly the same as yours, except my lipo position and im running yellow front springs as i haven't got blue. Will the blue springs make much difference?

Yes. stiffer front will stop front diving in....therefore a little less steering and less 'hooking' causing rear to swing around front.

Yup LIPO in the foward position gave the car a much more balanced feel. I only experienced the step out when being over aggressive (angry lapping) on the throttle
Deffo blue front springs Jamie, the only thing I changed from Lee's set up was to move the rear shocks to the outside hole on the wishbone to experiment, was pretty good still though. Camber link positions make a huge difference though Jamie as Ive found out, make sure you check them, front should be on the outside hole on the inboard
Absolutely love this car though
