2WD is for SCT. Can't see the point in 4WD, may aswell get a 4wd buggy.

Never thought i'd ever be saying this... as i had similar opinions about SCT class being for 2wd purists...

I'm going to stick up for 4wd Short Course and say its as much as a riot as racing 2wd!

Never been a 4wd fan in off-road r/c racing, never got on with any 4wd buggy apart from 'Predators' which used to be too brittle and unforgiving for us lower ranking drivers to compete with reliably.

I had a go with a mates Hong Nor SCRT10 truck and after a meeting with it i now own it and love it, i run a 6.5T in it and its mental, its definitely not easier to drive and is sideways drifting a lot more than the 2wd cars at A1 Racing Club, even with spikes on Astroturf!

The 4wd trucks certainly don't drive like 4wd buggies, have tried Hobao 4wd and Slash 4x4 too, The Durango looks very tamed from the videos i have seen.

The only issue with running it is the 4000 mah needed per 5 minute race to finish :o

Will definitely be campaigning both classes this year, can't wait to get the 4wd on dirt and just hope that i'll be allowed to run the same motor if any rules are decided for classes.

I've only ever run a 2wd sct, used it to race last weekend and having a good time was an understatement - set up in signature ;)

Bought a AE SC10FT (2wd) used it fo a few packs, sold it to a clubmate.

Bougt a SCRT10 (4wd) ran it for the first time yesterday, and it is a blast, not long after the 4wd buggys at all..

Since i am a 4wd guy i can only recomend the 4wd SC 24/7/360

My SCRT10 does with a 6.5T in it!

difference is it won't flip backwards with the weight of it!

A good thing about 4wd is being able to marshall yourself with the front wheels when it stands on its side after an 'incident'

Downsides are higher maintainence eventually, they fly like a house brick with weight and you need several high capacity packs to run at a club meeting where charging time is more limited as they are thirsty, even with smaller motors.

I wouldn't knock 2wd, have run them all last year and will be again this year as they are brilliant fun, just holding off for a while to see if Losi bring a competition variant of its new 2wd truck out (could be waiting a long while if their 2wd buggy development time is anything to go by!)

I come from 1/8 offroad nitro, I passed last year on the SCT's category.
Just because, I was tierd of spoiling money on these chassis although it's more fun to drive... the sound, the power!

I made the right decision to pass on the SC10 although it's slower than an 1/8. BUT : It's more convivial friendly to run! the battle beetween SCT's is awesome! We had more laugh to drive those @ our club!

I will stay this year on 2WD... If I would to drive a 4*4 I would go back to the 1/8 offrod....:p

i can marshall mine without the low flying dad in the hi vis as well!! the battery packs,go lipo bud!! i only need two all night and i run a 5.5!!
think is does boil down to what you raced before,me i raced trucks, buggy's snoring cars!! but always felt happy with the rc10t2/3/4.think its to do with how well and far those things will jump!!

I am running LiPo's matey! 40c 5000mah's, at the end of a 5 minute race with maybe a warm up lap and a cool down lap there is 20% left in the pack

Its not my packs as i've tried different brands with same results, its not the gearing either... Its the weight of the thing and the fact it is very quick,

Not interested in making it lighter, a mate has CNC milled 2mm off majority of chassis to make his lighter, but can't 'nudge' us about on the track anymore because he bounces off and can now
be more easily 'nudged' out of the way!

Have laid my pack down and moved electrics onto chassis to help improve centre of gravity/roll centre

It looks like the newer released 4wd trucks are a lot lighter (Losi, Associated, Durango and HoBao) will be interesting to get on a dirt track and see what is tops!
