I have been told that a 48dp pinion will work fine with a metric Tamiya .5 spur, please can someone advise me if this is correct:confused:

thanks.

it will work yes - but it's certainly not ideal and will be noisy. I think the first few runs it will take some material off the spur also.
You might be able to get a 48dp spur for the original car, but I found an easy way was to get the tamiya slipper kit - and an associated B4 spur / slipper pads. I think the B4 81 tooth spur is a larger diameter than the 82tooth kit spur - so that gives you an idea of the different sizes. 81t 48dp spur also needs the gear cover sanding inside to fit the slightly-too-large diameter.

Is that modification for the Keen Hawk chassis models? will it also work for the TTC?

oops, sorry - I don't even know what a TTC is? The only car I've experience with .5 module is the DF03 yes - I don't know about others so ignore the suggestion I made about slipper etc.. :wtf:

Sorry Jimmy I should have been clearer, the TTC (Tamiya Traction Control) is the Super Astute transmission with slipper, it also uses .5 pitch.

Does anyone know where I might get some .5 pinions?

Sorry BelstenToo,

my response was a bit curt:( (one too many shandies last night:rolleyes:), what I should have said was I've checked Ebay and there isn't a lot of choice only down to 23t and I think I might need to go to 16/17t.

Thanks.
