A strange question I know but I am interested to know what people think about playing a game like F1 2010 on the PS3 and if it improves your driving of a RC car?

i would like to say yes it probably would, hand and eye co-ordination on both accounts is what you need, the skill will evolve from the set up of the buggy.

should keep you on the ball with your thumbs and not let them get rusty

I agree.

Gaming alone won't make you a better RC driver - there is no substitute for actual practice.

But it gets your body and mind in better shape for it.

I strongly believe that Colin McRae Dirt2 with the controls setup like a stick transmitter will help your coordination and throttle control.

I have played it quite a bit on xbox and the way the car feels in the dirt, blending in just a little bit of throttle and being smooth on the steering is very good.

no doubt its not a substiture for actual track time, but getting good at dirt2 I think will make you better at off-road RC (as long as you set the controls as transmitter - steering with the left stick on any game is worthless)

in fact I believe games like Call of Duty are better for keeping your sharp than a racing game where you steer with your left thumb, its just un-natural.

call of duty using forward/back on the left thumb and rotate (steering) on the right thumb.

I always found the original grand theft auto games on the ps1 helped loads. You're looking down on the car so the controls are the same as if you are looking down on the track i.e inversed directions as you are driving towards you.

Learning how to rob cars, deal drugs and batter people help with your pit ethos too!
